So Juice is turning to prayer? I guess when all else fails….
God might forgive him, but I don’t think the club will. He broke every rule there is. He killed a member to cover up his lie, informed on the club, cooperated with the police, and lied to his brothers. The only thing he didn’t do is sleep with a brother’s old lady…just give him time.
Tara’s citizen mechanism kicked in. “Normal people call the police when they get death threats.” Except Gemma is right, Tara’s life is anything but normal.
Alvarez has quite an operation – naked ladies packing bags and filling tortillas. Sounds like a band the kids listen to. No one would think to look in a bag of tortillas. Just another delivery, pass the salsa.
These guys go from situation to situation. That wasn’t just a hit, those guys were serious. Running over your own man? That’s brutal. This show is continually cranking up the throttle.
Juice walks around like he is scared of getting caught. It’s way visible. He just can’t handle it.
Alvarez is a straight up soldier. Smoking a cigarette and having a conversation while he gets sewn up. That’s tough. And cool as a cucumber. Bullet holes ain’t fun.
Another cartel, Lobo. Pissed off and looking for blood. No good.
Tara is turning out to be a little Gemma. She doesn’t seem conflicted at all. She can’t stand being near Clay. Her radar must be up.
The guys pull up and do a home invasion, in their patches? Maybe they should have left them on the bikes. They walk in, murders are committed, and no witnesses?
Tara ain’t stupid, she can figure it out and see if Gemma is lying at the same time. Drugs, cartels, maybe she wants to rethink this. This IS why everything is happening to her, good and bad.
Eli is a clean cop and that AUSA is a dirty piece of shit. Corrupt to the letter, breaking the law to enforce the law. Threatening Eli with a complaint on his record unless he breaks the law. Coercion at a high level.
Alvarez knows who they are dealing with – people that would write a threat in the blood of the children. I would say it’s time to get out now.
Juice is lying. Clay is Lying. Unser is lying. Gemma invented lying. It seems to be an epidemic. Better get a better plan, Clay ain’t playing. He will kill Unser in a minute.
Opie seems surprised that Lyla split. She doesn’t want to be a mommy, she wants to be porn star.
Bobby is challenging the leadership, he has had enough. Clay seconded his own vote to out him. That took Bobby by surprise. Be careful what you wish for, running the ship ain’t easy.
No one is picking up the phone because no one wants to talk to anyone else. They’ve got nothing to say.
Tara wants to believe Jax so bad. Jax wants to deliver even badder.
Juice really messed up now, suicide. That is one messed up kid. That’s a coward’s way out.
It’s a club divided.

I don’t think Juice is dead. If you listen at the end when the soa logo pops up it sounds like a branch breaking and juice and the chain falling. I could be hearing things
By Paul on October 20th, 2011 at 10:12 amI love this show, thank you so much for your recaps. They are direct and no nonsense. SOA – can’t express how much fun it is to watch. Sometimes before the episode is over, I want to watch it again. The story telling is phenomenal. OMG, I love this show. Juice, good grief, is one of my favorite characters. Don’t know how he’ll get out of this or if he will. It might be kinda cool, if his brothers find him with the chain around his neck and he claims the cartel tried to lynch him. What the hell, one story is as good as another. Anyway, there is something that I can’t quite put my finger on – but yes, we all assume Clay killed JT. Clay says it, Unser agrees but then there is Gemma behind the scenes working with Unser like Unser and her have their own secret going on. Time will tell. Any time you make grown folks get so involved in a fictional story you know you are a master story teller. I bow to Mr. Sutter and I bow to his actors and everyone else associated with the show.

By nisan on October 20th, 2011 at 11:32 amExcellent summaries so far. Your blog helps me to tie the weeks together and I appreciate the effort. So far, your analysis has been spot-on.
By Berko on October 20th, 2011 at 11:34 amJuice backed himself into a corner of is own making when he did not go to Clay and the club and take his chances. If he didn’t think the club would be loyal to him, what is he doing there?
The home invasion in patches was dumbdumbdumb.
SOA and the Mayans have brought the cartel wars to Charming. Now it may be too late to get out. I understand Bobby’s officer challenge but it is too little, too late. SOA is in over its head if this is an all-out cartel war.
The club is not just divided it is imploding. Clay and Jax are using the club to their own purposes and putting everyone at risk.
By Deuces Wilde on October 20th, 2011 at 1:29 pmI hate to say this but I understood where Juice was coming from, if anything Lyla is the coward, she left her family, she’s the complete opposite of Tara. But Juice screwed himself. No matter what he did he would’ve ultimately ended up dead. If cooperated, he would’ve ratted on the club and he would’ve been killed. If he didn’t cooperate he would’ve been thrown in jail and then killed for being a rat. And it was too late to do what he should’ve done in the first place: tell the damn truth! Either way Juice dug himself into a hole he couldn’t escape and then the walls closed in. I’ll miss him though, maybe more than Half-Sack. Jax and Tara. I love the scene where he hugs her and says “We’re safe now. I promise.” You can see in her face that she wants to believe him but she’s not quite buying it. The drugs changed everything for her. I’m gonna hate it if they kill her off. Tara brings out a different side of Jax and without that side I think he’d be more like Clay (maybe smarter though) and that’s the last thing the club needs. LOVE YOUR BLOG FAT BOB! I read it every week!and I must say that I completely agree with your old lady on not liking Ima. Every time she comes on screen a small part of me sours.
By Jessica** on October 20th, 2011 at 3:26 pmJuice isn’t gonna get out that easy. After the screen went black I distinctly heard the branch break and his body hit the ground. Piney is about to pull some **** man you see him getting prepared. That old man doesn’t have any fear and he is willing to die or kill to make things right. The Cartel heat is only gonna get worse. Ain’t worth the extra money for all the bloodshed thats coming. Do you think Tara is gonna take the boys and go hide? Might be smart.
By Brandon Belzer on October 20th, 2011 at 3:54 pmJuice’s story was horrible. They wrote him as a peerson who wholly embraced the club, and it meant everything to him. He was threatened with the fact that he is partially black – a club rule violation. I am pretty sure that a black memeber was shown (as an extra) in an earier episode in season 3, but I may be wrong on that.
For a club that is so dedicated to brotherhood amongst theives, they sure don’t show it with such technicalities. It is also odd that it is ok to be Mexican or Puerto Rican, but black is over the line. It doens’t sound like something Piney opr JT would have considered.
I am pretty sure that there is a rule about keeping old ladies in the dark. I doubt they were expected to run the show behind closed doors. Iunderstand paying off the police, but I really got lost when they became drinking buddies. I don’t want to forget that they had a brother’s old lady stolen by an IRA gun runner….so they made him a business partner. You have an Old Lady pulling strings, the Presdient drinnking and conspiring against the club with a Cop, a business deal with a gun runner who stole a brothers old lady, but those rules we can look away from. A dedicated soldier who is part black…game over?!?!
As for Juice: He loves the club so much, he would do anything to stay. In fact he is willing to stab his friends in the back to stay with them. Heck, he will even kill them to stay with them. Again the dots do not connect.
This is just an example of how the show has lost its continuity. There is much more inconsistancies, like Piney just sittng back and not helping Jax get the club back on track, Jax is so upset about the way Clay runs the showhe does nothingbut let Bobby challenge Clay, the irish girl JT was sneaking around with loved JT so much she did nothing when he died even though she had letters saying he knew they were going to do something.
By Dave on October 20th, 2011 at 4:16 pmThe officer challenge cannot turn out well. If Clay wins, Bobby will have to go. If Clay loses, who takes over and how does that impact Tig?
Piney with the shotgun at the end of the show left an interesting question.
Almost mutiny going on here.
By JT on October 21st, 2011 at 9:46 amI think Alverez was smokin’ something besides a cigeratte!
By Beth Jeffrey on October 21st, 2011 at 10:32 amThe AUSA is pushing the Sheriff, the Sheriff pushes on Juice… You can see he didn’t like it, but the Sheriff is just as guilty of Juice’s suicide aas the AUSA!
I don’t understand the big deal about Juice’s dad being black… I think he shoulda just came clean… Now he’s swinging! So sad!
THEN, there’s Unser going to Tara’s boss? DAMN! He’s pushing the envelope….
Loving the new season & SO GLAD that it’s going for a 5th season.
Altho, my hubby, who’s lived this kinda life, is a bit heartbroken about Juice’s ending… he made the comment that he’d just as well stop watching after this last episode!
I don’t know…. Waiting to see what’s up for next week!
Just love this show -
I remember when being a biker meant alot of things – like not be allowed in certain places – like restaurants – hotels – yes and even some family reunions – [ that's a personnal thing ] denied access to certain rental properties.
But as I sit on the porch and tell my granddaughters the adventures I’ve had – I do not regret one day – yes even those days I can’t remember.
Being ‘ an ole lady ‘ having tatoos older than most ‘ riders ‘ of today – having lived in the ‘ underground ‘ is great fodder for a book I’m thinking of writing
And being from Texas – here everyone rides under the umbrella of the Bandits.
By tuffenough on October 22nd, 2011 at 12:48 amI heard the branch break after the screen went black maybe Juice is not dead..??
By Bobby on October 22nd, 2011 at 6:12 amThanks FB for keeping this blog going! It is my supplimental SOA fix…..blessings to you and yours….
By skirts 'n' daggers on October 22nd, 2011 at 3:43 pmJuice is alive. Branch snapped. Also, he was in promo for next week’s ep.
By Voski on October 23rd, 2011 at 5:32 pmI AGREE ,SUICIDE IS THE COWARD’S WAY OUT, HE SHOULD OF FESSED UP TO HIS BROTHERS FROM THE BEGINNING, A MAN WILL DIE ON HIS FEET BEFORE HE LIVES ON HIS KNEES, IN FACT THE ONLY WAY A MAN IS ON HIS KNEES IS THAT HE IS PRAYING FOR STRENGTH FROM YAHWEH (GOD) TO KEEP STANDING.
I AM NOT IN A CLUB BUT IF YOU CAN ANSWER I WOULD APPRECIATE IT, IF YOU CAN’T I FULLY UNDERSTAND, WOULD THE CLUB HAVE A PROBLEM WITH JUICE BEING OF AFRICAN DECENT IF HE HAD BEEN REAL AND WENT TO THE CLUB,I KNOW ALL CLUBS GOT THERE RULES BUT WOULD SOA HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THIS EVEN WITH HIM PROVING TO BE A GOOD BROTHER?
By CHRIS H. on October 23rd, 2011 at 6:38 pmLove these blog post. You have a great way of putting the episode into a very succinct perspective. My favorite line from this post “Juice is lying. Clay is lying. Unser is lying. Gemma invented lying.” Love that! Thanks for posting
By chitownskyline on October 23rd, 2011 at 7:20 pmIs Juice really dead? I have a feeling someone is coming up the road while he kicks & struggles away… kind of hope so- think it all has to come out in the open soon. The idiot should have just gone to the club at the get-go. With everything he has gone through with them lately surely they could overlook a little detail like his dad that he doesn’t even know. He’s a Man of Mayhem. Chibs unknowingly talked him out of coming clean though.
By Karlos The Jackal on October 23rd, 2011 at 11:15 pmAnd Bobby has finally snapped. Wonder how many of the Sons will stand up and vote against Clay. I’m tipping not many. And then where does that leave Bobby? Does that mean he has to leave? Hmmm great season so far, loving it!
What’s the dif? Hang it up or get beat down to the max. He should have trusted his brothers. Club fault in general or character flaw made him scared. It doesn’t fit either way.
By Raoul on October 24th, 2011 at 5:10 pmSo no comments at all this week. I waited till today to see if anyone would say anything. Ya’ll must be as pissed off as I am! So normally Fat Bob and I agree, not this week. I think Juice is dead, and I KNOW it is all Clay’s fault. There was a time not too long ago, that Mr. Lawman would come at a Brother with some bull**** like race and he would get laughed at. Chibbs and Jax are a perfect example of being able to come to your family and say…
“This is whats going on.”
It speaks LOUD that Juice didn’t feel like he could do that at this point. He knows everything is different in his club now, with his BROTHERS now. A little thing like race…is going to seperate him from his Brothers? No…not never…but he sees the handwriting on the wall. He knows that SAMCRO isn’t about his Brothers anymore. It’s about Clay getting his money.
It’s okay to break a rule like drugs, but race is an issue? After Juice had that conversation with Chibbs…he KNEW. The ENTIRE club is upside-down. Juice no longer trusted his BROTHERS to protect him because of this Cartel bull****. He was failed…by his family…so he is supposed to stick around, so they can perform the ULTIMATE betrayal? Naw…Juice did the right thing. I hope he is dead, because he went out his way. He punished himself for killing his Brother, because no matter what it was wrong. That takes courage. He is dead at the hands of his President, JUST LIKE an assload of other family memebers.
Clay…is a coward, a turncoat, betrayer, and all around self-serving asshole. I relish the thought of his death. Anyone who knows me…knows that I am all about loyalty. He has exhibited no loyalty to his family from day one. He does not trust his Brothers, and it’s because he is NOT one of them, and he knows it. He is power hungry, and he has been on a decades long trip.
Looking forward to the end of him.
By DedraToo on October 24th, 2011 at 9:02 pmYour not hearing things
By MattyC005 on October 25th, 2011 at 12:18 pmI loved Gemma’s response to Tara’s comment about how normal people react to death threats. I posted Gemma’s quote as my Facebook status. I knew that Gemma would tell Tara that her life is anything but normal. Tara’s statement shows that she is still adjusting. I agree that she is becoming more and more like Gemma. Tara and Gemma are starting to look more similar. In the promos for this season, in some shots, I wasn’t sure if I was looking at Gemma or Tara. I loved how Tara jerked back from Gemma’s attempted hug and said it was thanks to SOA that all of those things were happening to her. I thought Gemma would run after her to demand clarification on that statement.
I wasn’t sure if Lyla left her son behind. If so, then that is lousy, but I expected her to bail. I guessed that the Ima incident would be it for her and Opie. I loved seeing a subdued Ima and how she flinched when Bobby was talking to her. I was surprised to see Krista Renton’s name in the credits–I didn’t think Ima would be seen anymore after her run-in with Jax.
I was never clear on why Juice was allowed to join the club as a Latino. I had wondered why he joined SOA and not the Mayans. I think it is great that the writers have done more with his character this season. Up until this point, he was more in the background.
By Tempest on October 27th, 2011 at 10:36 amI think there is one VERY important relationship that hasn’t been mentioned and should be because it can also change so much. Clay played his cards well by donating the money to the garden. Now the Sheriff has mixed feelings of loyalty that he apparently has NEVER had a problem with before. He works for/with a sh*tty mayor and an even sh*ttier federal guy. Now his wife has received “blood money” from the SOA, and the move may do well to get rid of the corrupt mayor. Like Unser, will the Sheriff see the lesser of two evils?
By IrishLass on October 27th, 2011 at 4:15 pmDamn Kurt ! Why do you keep killing off some of my favorite folks ? In the next episode, you kill off Piney ! How many patches you gonna have left dude? Gotta get rid of Clay for damn sure.
By Guyster on October 28th, 2011 at 6:56 pmHow do I watch past episodes of this season… i lost cable and im deprived of this amazing show….
By Sara on October 29th, 2011 at 12:05 pmWhere is the blog for episode 8? did I miss it?
By catherine on October 29th, 2011 at 12:25 pmSeriously! I am hanging out to talk about ep 8 and 11 days after the last blog was posted we are still waiting for the new blog to come up.
By Karlos The Jackal on October 31st, 2011 at 12:10 amI am so shocked (yet unsurprised) about Clay killing off Piney. Now we wait with baited breath to see if Piney was telling the truth about his ‘contingency plans’ or just bluffing. My guess- the letters are hidden somewhere in the clubhouse ready for the members to find. And when everyone finds out about Piney, surely Gemma & Tara will know straight away what has happened. Will Opie suspect Clay as well? How will all this affect teh leadership vote?
Wow this series is ramping it up- it is really building to something big! Why don’t you just release the rest of the episodes now to put us out of our misery in a 5 hr marathon!!
So yeah…where is the episode 8 review? I’m…..I’m anxious here…..
By captainhellcat on October 31st, 2011 at 1:02 amFat Bob…..I LOVE reading your reviews every week and have since you started…..but can you please please please upload a little quicker like last season???
By Lilly on October 31st, 2011 at 11:57 amI surprised myself when I cried, screaming NO! at Piney’s murder. I hate Clay (altho I love the actor – go Hellboy!) this is SOOO wrong!
If you noticed, Clay used Piney’s blood to write some letters on a framed picture on the wall… Lobo Caliente, I believe, is the club he was trying to frame for this. They’re the club from up north, fighting the cartel, right? Something like that. someone will correct my mistakes, I’m sure.
The story lines of both Piney and Juice have got me all tied up in knots this season… I love this show!
By ~cj on October 31st, 2011 at 11:55 pmHope you and the fam are okay Bob — waiting for an update before tonight’s episode…
By The Okie on November 1st, 2011 at 2:24 pmHey Fat Bob……haven’t heard anything from you. Hope you are still with us and healthy!!! Enjoy your blog!
By Rev. Butch on November 1st, 2011 at 3:23 pmfat bob love the post can’t wait for you to post what ‘s taking so long? you’re killing me. i am shocked by clay killing piney but at the same time ya knew it was coming as much as i want clay shot in the head i don’t think him leaving the show is good either he needs too be there somewhere. they all have their faults. but bobby is right it’s time for clay to step down he is killing the club slowly.
By hinks on November 1st, 2011 at 6:16 pmClay has been fouling up big time since the begging of season one and has not stop. He sanction the murder of an MC member after he said in church that everything was cool but end up killing his old lady instead. And now he smoked one of the original members. I think Clay is getting away with murder but the question is for how long? I think Opie has earned the right, twice, to settle a big time score with Clay.
By Juan Carlos on November 1st, 2011 at 8:20 pmJust watched the Kiss episode and I was pissed right off the bat! Clay needs a round to the eyebal and either Jax or Opeie will be the ones to do it if Jax isn’t blown up with Tara on the trip to Oregon. While the show has improved this season, it is way too far fetched to be believed by anyone but the gullible lame assed citzens who already think that all patch holders are murdering, drug dealing, liars. Enough of the cartel ****! Show some reality once in awhile Sutter! Those guys are so busy with the coke and the guns, they don’t seem to have much time to do what we really do, ride motorcycles!Get real for a minute Sutter. This show is turning into a typical Hollywood handjob! That’s my opinion and I;m stickin’ to it!
By Zannan on November 2nd, 2011 at 6:27 amI feel like my grandfather just died.
I loved Piney.
I’m pinning Clay to die this season and for it to be at the hands of possible Unser?
By Elle on November 2nd, 2011 at 6:30 amBob, I have been hooked on your blog from the start…
Please post soon, I fear you have stopped and will not be back.
Your pen each week puts each episode into a nice consise and clear package for all of us.
Tell me I am being a little bitch and over reacting while you took some Fat Bob time in Vegas.
Randall
By Randall on November 2nd, 2011 at 10:47 amThis is nothing more than a soap opera with cuts and oil spots! If half of the $h1t went on in a real club in this little time, there would be nothing but a stack of bodies left.
I was a little leery when Clay had Tig take out Donna, that just aint done on one man’s word. Now Clay is a one man wrecking ball? And Jemma even has a clue about anything that happens? They may as well let her attend church and give her a vote. It’s OK if she’s everyone’s mom, that $h1t can happen but old ladies are never in the mix when it comes to club business.
Now Eli, a stand up cop? Seriously? A “stand up cop (and I actually know a couple) walks out the door, calls his boss and tells him what’s up on his turf and to be expecting a call.
So, what’s it all add up too? Nothing more than a soap opera for wanna bees. There’s even enough story lines to cover the 5 day a week format that soaps had for all of those years.
If this keeps going, Piney will be back in a few years, different actor with some BS story about how he wasn’t really dead. After all, no one ever took his pulse, did they?
Fat Bob, get over yourself. If you ever had a clue, someone stole it with your lunch money back in third grade!
By Ohio on November 2nd, 2011 at 6:28 pmI think the thing with Juice is a bit of a stretch. For 1 if he really was concerned, why not go to the club right away -state, my dad is black – never knew him – but I guess I am half black – the Feds & Sheriff are trying to do “XYZ” and then sting them. Just like they did with Stahl last season. It would rock.
Also, I agree with some other commenters – I don’t see Piney, JT or even Clay having a problem with a black member. Especially, as they were going against the grain and Vietnam vets. They probably would have had an issue with discrimination – rather than them be the discriminators.
The Sheriff also should have said screw you to AUSA and just gone ahead. However, it seems that the new Sheriff is getting a little soft for SAMCRO. Especially with the large donation.
Clay is evil with a capital E. There has to be much more to the JT vs. Clay story, as you would have to be super evil to have Tara killed. Having said that, does everyone forget what he did to Opie? I mean Donna is dead b/c of him.
Losing Piney sucks. He was a great character and a portal to the history of JT. It would be nice if we could have gotten to know him more.
Why didn’t Bobby tell Otto about Georgie? He would have understood. Also, people are incorrect about Bobby breaking rules. There is the “Prison Clause” so really, what he did was just crappy, not rule breaking. Also, he should told Otto why he slept w/ Luann, it was to protect her as she was stealing from the club.
This show rocks and I have to say that Katey Sagal is a fantastic actor. From Peggy Bundy to Gemma Teller – she is beleivable.
By jax101 on November 7th, 2011 at 11:20 amWhat happened to Kozick havent seen him in weeks
By Chip on November 8th, 2011 at 5:44 pmOK, that just about does it, when Opie finds out Clay killed pops and sonny boy sees mom, Clay is gonna have a funeral…. one of the best shows yet.
By Stan Ryan on November 9th, 2011 at 11:50 pmFor me, Juice is not yet dead. Great summaries on this post so far . Keep it up!
