My friends and brothers call me Fat Bob and I been in an Outlaw motorcycle club going on thirty years. We ain’t one of the big four but we are big enough. I am second generation biker and I have seen this world change for the better over the years. The producers of Sons of Anarchy have asked me to weigh in on their show. They wanted the perspective of someone in the life and have given me carte blanche (within reason) to offer critiques, opinions, gripes, praises. Whatever. I’ve never done this before, so we’ll see what happens. After watching the first three episodes, here are a few thoughts –
BIKES ARE FOR RIDING.
Anybody who says the characters in Sons of Anarchy wouldn’t ride bikes like the ones in this show obviously do not ride very far. The days of the bar to bar rigid frame are over. Yeah I got one in my garage that I pull out for a short ride when I want to feel nostalgic, but when I am going to ride to Sturgis in the summer with my brothers I damn sure want a bike EXACTLY like what I see on the show. Rubber mounted with a fairing. You ain’t riding six or seven hundred miles a day on a rigid frame stopping every 65 miles for gas, or to get the feeling back in your legs, it would take a month to get anywhere.
THE ONLY THING THAT’S LOADED IS MY GUN.
I see some of you kids writing about no drugs on the show. Get your heads out of Altamont. Those days are over. We have old guys and young ones in our club and I can tell you it sure seems like the people that will last are the ones that can change with the times. Getting loaded is the past. Holding a job is the future. This thing is about being a man, a brother, putting the club first. With all the feds watching every club out there, looking for a way to classify any of us as a gang, it sure makes sense to have a job or at least look like you have one. Only the old guys party. Sure seems like the young guys are looking for the future and realize that partying is the past.
Until next week,
DON’T HATE, PARTICIPATE.

Hello Fatbob, as you being riding for many years a
By MANDO on September 25th, 2008 at 5:38 pmand I agreed with pretty much everything you said.
In the frisco bhotherhood most of our rides are dynas and of course every one is personalized.
THe loaded part is not our brains anymorealso.
Keep the good words,Mando.
Glad to see someone out there tryin to pass on the old ways, along with the new. I love what you’ve done with the show, it “almost” makes me wanna put a “Cut” back on….I just hope the youngns’ don’t take all of it too seriously. When I started ridin it wasn’t the “Chic” thing it is now. (dang yuppies….), All this world needs is a bunch of wanna-be’s out there tryin to be what they’re not. You know as well as I do it could get ‘em hurt. Maybe a good storyline for a show…..Kid approaches club gathering tryin to impress the guys, and gets his ass whupped for the effort. A little dose of Reality Tv! Keep up the good work. Mike
By Mike on September 25th, 2008 at 7:49 pmI agree with you on this issue of the old hard tails. You ride one hundred miles straight through somewhere and your ass is so sore you feel like the smallest guy on cell block. But the things I question about the production are the small things like, why does Jax where baggy pants hanging down around his knees like a fifteen year old black kid? White sneakers?
By Joseph on September 25th, 2008 at 8:43 pmWhere is the pride in the individuality of each bike? All Dyno’s? It doesn’t make sense. Where’s the Fat Boys or the Ultra’s? What about an 883 sportster for the financially challenged Biker?
Much like you I have been riding all my life, from my old Triumph Hardtail chopper days of the 60’s to my Harley of present, I have been stabbed on three separate occasions shot once and still managed to get one daughter through medical school and one daughter through Graduate school in Psychology. So I agree with the job and income part of your opinion. Where we disagree is on the reality of the show. Justice for the rapist in the clown suit was reality. A dozen guys with the same bike, not reality. The personality of the president is realistic. Size five Malibu Barbies waiting at the clubhouse, unrealistic. (insert middle aged divorcee’s with crooked teeth, stretch marks, and titties that look like someone dropped a softball in a knee sock) reality. But then again opinions are like Camaro’s everybody has had one.
Yeah must be nice to have the a bar hopper in the garage as well as the pampered puss bike. Some of us only have one bike and it has to do it all. Well one thing i have noticed in my 32 years in the saddle is that there is a huge lack of bikers (and i use the term loosely here) that actualy build or for that matter even work or repair the scooters.
My dad told me if i wanted to ride harleys that i would best be advised to buy a bike and service manual and tear it down and rebuild it from the motor up. Well a couple of months later at 16 there i was with a 1950 chopped out panhead huffing oil out the back jug that I gave 1200.00 bucks for and panhead service manual. I rode that bike for 5 years as my primary mode of transportation. Sold it and got another and started again. So now many bikes later I now own a 1973 shovel(the newest i have owned so far)that was built by me for me. To this day not one of my bikes has been in a shop. The only thing i get done at the shops is let them mount and balance my tires.
So what i would say to those serious about riding and living the biker lifestyle is learn about your ride by at least knowing how to do even the basics of repair and to know that 20,000.00 dollars and 200 miles dosent make you a biker there is a lot more to it than that.
Ride Hard

I have to agree. We ride, however don’t belong to a MC. However, have many friends that do. It is a lifestyle. A family. Look forward to hearing more from you in the next weeks. As far as the youngsters looking for more partying, they don’t have their future in mind. If they want to ride, leave the partying behind, or atleast find a DD if you want a future.
By tracy on September 26th, 2008 at 9:18 amThanks for the insight, watching the show I wonder how some real members of clubs feel about the show.
By dan on September 26th, 2008 at 11:16 amWhy are the guys constntly in cages with their colors on. In my club thats a ten dollar fine.
By Matt on September 26th, 2008 at 12:58 pmAnd everyone parties, even if its just the weekend.
Fat Bob, I appreciate your opinion. Even though your group might not be one of the big 4, there are still loads of less-known groups with just as much history. I actually wanted to see some older bikes, because I’m pretty sure that not every member of most groups rides the latest and greatest models rolling off of the showroom floor. That is the main thing that I was disappointed with. Yeah those bikes they ride are nice, but I really dig the vintage iron that I see alot of guys on custom bike websites riding.
By X1200L on September 26th, 2008 at 3:02 pmgotta question,, For years, H-D has been trying to put as much distance as possible between them, and the Patch club world. With their brand appearing on a show depicting guns, violence,Booze/drugs, sex etc. has H-D been trying to influence the producers in any way ?
By Bonzo on September 26th, 2008 at 4:10 pmI hear Ya on the drugs guys all doped up are not productive members of any club
By T C on September 26th, 2008 at 4:51 pmAmen Fat Bob. Well spoken brother.
Sons of Anarchy is a great show because it tears down the stereotypes, it doesn’t perpetrate them.
By Inkfreq on September 26th, 2008 at 5:31 pmI look forward to your insight on the show. Right now I find that it’s dragging. Additionally I look forward to hearing what you think about some of the plot lines as they develop… mainly because I was really expecting to see some insight into “Outlaw Motorcycle Clubs” a la The Wire and not some hyped up soap opera. How about posting a pics of your daily rider and the one you take out for long rides?
Peace
By Il Padrone on September 27th, 2008 at 2:40 pmMan I sure am glad to see someone writing with some sense. I have two bikes. One hard tail bobber which I ride every day to work and what not; the other is a cruiser. I love that bobber and I would love to take it to some rallys and show it off, but when I am riding to Austin or Daytona nothing beats that comfort. The kind of guys who say cruisers are lame are also the kind of pansies who trailer their bikes in for rallys. Look forward to reading more from you man.
By Irish on September 27th, 2008 at 8:36 pmRight on to all the above.
By Stew on September 28th, 2008 at 4:13 amTrue enough. The average income of your Harley “rider” is upwards of 50K a year. Granted there are allot of “trailer queens” out there, but for me it’s, Shut Up and Ride!

I like the show, nice to see some dirty oakies on t.v. Growing up in san joaquin county I remember once you passed lockeford you see hella bikers. I was never afraid of mexicans cuz im mexican, or afraid of blacks, cuz my uncle is black. But oakies on bikes, damm them fools always looked scary . I bet the people in lovable livable lodi are going crazy with there town being mentioned on the show.
Im not a writer or anything, but some of the **** that is really hurting people right now in san joaquin county is the housing crisis. You drive through stockton and its depressing. oakieville which is in east stockton is full of abandoned homes. Plus all the rejects, and ghetto ass fools from the bay moved to the central valley cuz they couldnt afford the rent in the bay. and Hella junkies with no teeth, looking like zombies, drinking rockstars trying to get some meth.
Aight well later, like the show
By 209centralvalley on September 28th, 2008 at 10:06 amoh yeah the mayans I thought that **** was funny
You had piesas, mixed with pochos
you guys should throw in some real piesas into the mix, some fools from sinaloa

He’s of a breed, cut from a cloth
That shall never be denied
His seeds are sewn
He stands alone
Finding solace within his ride
Babies and dogs are a weakness
Ladies are ever a vice
Loyal to his brothers
Does not play well with others
Refuses to ‘make nice’
Into the night rides the outlaw
Shadows, long past, astride
Knowing not to where
Nor does he care
Only, that he must abide
The dawn awakes to find him
Peering deep within it’s soul
Being near it
Calms his spirit
As all too soon, he must roll
Atop a steed of lightening
Commanding it’s thunderous wake
The law at his heels
The freedom he feels
A way of life at stake
Into the night rides the outlaw
Shadows, long past, astride
Knowing not to where
Nor does he care
Only, that he must abide

THEY ALL HAD JOBS AND HAD FAMILIES AND THEIR BROTHER HOOD WAS STRONG. MY FATHER IS NOW A RETIRED MEMBER THAT STILL WEARS HIS COLORS AND WE STILL GO TO OUTINGS AND CAMPOUTS TO ALL THE CHAPTERS. ITS ALWALYS BEEN A GREAT PART OF MY LIFE. THIS SHOW HAS ALOT OF LIFE EXPERIENCES FOR ME AND ITS GREAT THAT A SHOW WAS MADE FOR PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THERE IS MORE TO MC CLUBS BESIDES ALL BAD THINGS. FAMILY IS VERY IMPORTANT AND SO IS THE RIDE.
MEGAN
By meggoon75 on September 29th, 2008 at 8:27 amCome on guys! It’s a show nothing more nothing less! There trying to depict a 1%er club, that run guns parties and kills people! It is a 1%er club, Hello, hence the term 1%er!!! but it is not all reality. Give me a break.
I ride a rigid and it’s my only ride(FTF). If you didn’t build it - your not a biker and I’m not gonna tell you sissy’s who I ride with.
By Big Eddie on September 29th, 2008 at 3:44 pmpretty much every true biker i know patys in some way or another
By chris newton on September 29th, 2008 at 7:41 pmi agree that the days of rigid frames are somewhat by the wayside….i have guys in my club who do ride rigids…but they don’t go very far….some have a second bike…but most have something that mixes style and function…a soft tail or dyna stripped down can look great but still ride all day….my only gripe with the realisticness of the show is they don’t wear shades alot while riding….just looks fake when they don’t have glasses on….and as far as the fairings? too many of the guys have those early 90’s round ones…hate those…can’t imagine too many people in the same club having those….great show though
By Jersey on September 30th, 2008 at 6:05 amI admit I’m a dub and I don’t care what anyone thinks. I just want to say that two of the greatest things to do are riding and partying. SEPARATELY.
By Brother Mark on September 30th, 2008 at 10:52 amI hope that kids watching the show aren’t encouraged to smoke weed or drink and hop on their bikes because its a good way to die. Don’t light up until AFTER the ride.
Big Eddie-I’m sure your rigid is way cooler than my VTX but some of us aren’t mechanics and like the fast lane. Maybe I ain’t a biker but I sure as hell like to ride.
Ok…it is a dramatized series depicting a new era. We have several clubs here that the youngun’s have pretty much taken the lead on.
By Mathair Sue on September 30th, 2008 at 4:33 pmMy Mexican girlfriend and I were the first women riders that had balls big enough to ride the old bikes (pans, suicide, home chopped) with no colors but with a bunch of the first ABATE’rs when I moved here. My son grew up behind me and has carried on the tradition. I left the hard core stuff back on the coast… In the old days wearing your colors was grounds for being pulled over, especially if there was two or more bikes rolling! I’ve seen people die, disappear, steal rides and strip them, only to have a raging war go on between them. You had to have a safe house! Someone who didn’t know you from schmuck so you could run to if you had to when it got too hot. I’ve seen bales broken, keys laying out and been around people that you didn’t talk about. So,when I heard about this series I wondered…how far will the story telling go? I watch from a distance now, but still love the sound of bikes rolling. Thanks for trying to keep it real FatBob! Only those who have lived it really knew what it was like. RIP to lost brothers and sisters along the way.
wow can every one get out of this guys a**! man we still party ! and the old way is the new way . you sound like a bunch of p****
By larry on September 30th, 2008 at 5:33 pmi like the show it is depicted in a way to fit with the old and the new.i know a few 81’s and they like and support the show, there are things they agree with and disagree but everyone has an opinon!all i have to say is support your local 81 loud and proud!!!!!!live to ride ride till you die
By randy on September 30th, 2008 at 6:49 pmI wish the show would slow down. Club life is not all shootouts and BJ’s. (More BJ’s than shootouts!) Fact is, shootouts are bad for business. The writers should play for the long haul. Build into things like the Sapranos did. Let a story unfold and the drama build up. You got some great characters. Let them develope without all the over-the-top Hollywood BS. Realism and street cred would go a longway to the show’s life span.
By BigDaddy on October 1st, 2008 at 8:32 amI have been riding for over 30 years. i have two bikes for the obvious reason. i have built an old shovel on a rigid frame that i have been riding for 28 years. i hav ebought a 2008 HD crossbones, the first new bike i have ever owned. the only reason i bought this one is that it looks like my old shovel without all of the “wrenching”.
By crossbones on October 1st, 2008 at 10:38 amI have ridden with two 1% clubs in my day and am still affiliated. we still party!
the dynas with the cute little fairings make me want to puke. put those boys on a real 1% bike.
If you need ideas or consulting on what “real” bikers do email me.
Shovel Bob, you are the man and I agree with you. Every bike I’ve owned beginning with a ‘53 Pan has been rebuilt to my specs. I’ve never worn colors but rode with several that did with various MCs around the South East. I stopped riding because all the guys I knew were getting really stupid. I don’t like the idea of being locked up or dead.
Sons of Anarchy is very intertaining, but I don’t like the bikes they ride in the show. Too preppie looking!!
Bogan
By Bogan on October 1st, 2008 at 11:21 amLove the show. It is a great change to the normal ghetto, stupid, no non sense shows or even worse all the reality shows. So far it’s pretty close to true life. As a parent I’m not minding the drugs and all it’s on late enough that the young pups should be in bed anyhow. Honestly it’s life today. That’s real stuff. Keep up the good work.
Your loyal fan,
Tina
By Tina on October 1st, 2008 at 11:57 amyou got to be kiding clubs are not doing much of this kind of stuff any more and if they are it’s not with a patch on so they do not draw unwanted attention to the club this i know. i do ride and i ride with a club now and have been since the WARS. my club just got pulled over by the cop’s at gun point and it’s because of this kind of stuff that people bleive in.LNBB/SYLSOS
By unknown on October 1st, 2008 at 3:22 pmI love the show, also like the blog…. keep it up Fat Bob
By Bravo on October 1st, 2008 at 8:26 pmThe show is pretty accurate except for one glaring mistake……….no little punk with his “gangsta” pants down past his ass and white tennis shoes would be in an outlaw club. And this character is supposed to be in his 30’s? I also hate the bikes……ugly! And they don’t look like bikes I’ve seen outlaws ride.
By Carol on October 1st, 2008 at 8:26 pmI enjoy watching your show. I’ve been scooter trash for more than thirty years. For the most part this show is close on the things they act. But try to get it right on the small details. In this weeks show they were going to look at the 48 kmuckle, well 48 was the first year for the panhead, the last year for the knuckle was 47. I was also wondering why Samcro doesnt were the 1% patch. Anyway all in all good show.
By Fatboy on October 1st, 2008 at 8:43 pmFatboy
I LIKE THE SHOW SO FAR, JUST A COUPLE OF THINGS OUT OF THE NORM FOR CLUB MEMBERS, TRUE WHAT ONE BRO SAID, NO COLORS IN CAGES, ALSO ONE EPISODE THE V.P. WENT INTO “HOSTILE TERRITOY”, HE WAS TOLD TO KEEP A LOW PROFILE, SO WHAT DOES HE DO , GOES FLYING DOWN THE HWY. WITH COLORS ON……….BAD IDEA !!!!
KEEP THE SHOW REAL, DON’T GO HOLLYWOOD ON IT….
ROACH
By ROACH on October 1st, 2008 at 8:44 pmso i don’t ride a harley but i do ride. i one of the sick sob’s you see riding in the middle of winter up here in the backwoods of new jersey. i love the show and watch it everyweek, even the reruns throughout the rest of the week. sure it’s not dead balls accurate but neither was the saprano’s and look how far they went. keep up the good work. can’t wait till next week!
By joe on October 1st, 2008 at 8:44 pmi grew up around bikes most of my life.. have ran with a few differnt mc’s and belong to a mc.. ive worked security for bike ralleys and shows.. me and my old lady love the show and talk about what ive done or seen in the past and ya some of the bikes should be changed to older ones and the prep stuff taken out but other then that its a great show.. ya most of us in mc have done stupid things in the past but now adays it is more faimly guys with 40-60 hour a week jobs who do what they can for the clubs.. we would realy like to see the show more like realy life..
maybe u should talk to some of the old times to get some good ideas..
By harley on October 1st, 2008 at 10:00 pmHA HA HAH HAH HA HAH HA!! 48 KNUCKLE. MY BLEEDIN HEMMOROIDS! HAH HA. THE FINAL YEAR FOR PRODUCTON FOR THE VENERABLE KNUCK WAS 1946. 47 WAS THE FIRST YEAR PRODUCTION FOR THE PANHEAD, AND IT REMAINED IN PRODUCTION TIL 64…… ANYBODY THAT WOULD FALL FOR THAT CRAP DESERVES TO HAVE HIS HIDE FLAMED. ALTHOUGH WE JUST USED A BIG GRINDER FOR THE SAME PURPOSE. ****. I’M STILL LAUGHING!
By JimBob on October 1st, 2008 at 11:36 pmi just wanted to say i really enjoy this show ive always been they type of person who has to learn lifes leasons the hard way.but i wouldnt change a thing this show reminds me alot of myself growing up im not from cali or some place where gangs and violence are every where im from south carolina but we do have some of it here i do not belong to a mc b/c of my job .. i would enjoy it i know but i do have numerious close freinds who are members i myself do not own a harley i have a 2008 v-star i just enjoy riding and i think that anyone who has a bike weather they’ve been riding for 30 years or a few days knows the since of brotherhood in those of have bikes we watch out for each other here in sc b/c no one else is and the world sure the hell aint and i think this show is a good reminder that the world isnt pretty and it isnt going to comform to an individual and sometimes whats right just aint right so thats when the soa or others will always be around and its time to realize this
By knucklehead101 on October 2nd, 2008 at 12:08 amAlmost spit out my beer during tonights episode. “Lets go see the ‘48 Knucklehead”??
By E J Loeffler on October 2nd, 2008 at 12:22 amI am pretty sure that 1947 was last year of Knuckleheads, 1936 the first. 1948 was first year of Panheads. Please no comments about a Knuckle/Pans.
The E and EL models were 61 Cu. In. (1000cc) and were in production ‘36 to ‘47. The F and FL models were 74 Cu. In. (1200cc) and were in production ‘40 to ‘47. Of course they originally came with a 6 volt electrical system.
I love the show, but reading some of these comments people need to understand the difference between a regular MC and a 1%er MC. and if u dont some of u don’t know what the hell you are talking about.
By geo on October 2nd, 2008 at 1:37 amHave interest in the show, but come on it is just a show. Modern version of Route 66 of the early 60’s. I have been riding for almost 40 years. Own two Harley’s because I love to ride and have job to afford them. I agree with most comment on this thread, but 1%ers are who they are and anyone who is part of a MC knows why. I presently am part of a patch club, but are far from the label that SOA tries to portray. Good to watch while sipping a brew! Keep the rubber down and chrome up!
By Pirate on October 2nd, 2008 at 8:42 amI watch the show after all it is just entertainment. Somebody should do their homework though last nights episode they were talking about this great bike that “Elvis” has it’s a 1948 Knucklehead everybody with a brain knows 1947 was the last year for a Knucklehead”. No need it get wrapped around the axle about a TV show. I been riding my whole life (50) my parents hated it!!! My brother was in a the “Monterey Losers” he was murdered by an 81 over some property issue, oh and his handle was and still is FAT BOB rest in peace my real brother. I was a teenager when it went down living in the midwest at the time. This has left a mark on my soul that can never be straitened out. I ride because I love it, Harleys for me all the way but you gotta run what ya brung as they say. No gang opps sorry “club” afiliation for me EVER. I served, I ride, I wrench, and on occasion party. So lets just ride and live free and by all means don’t tread on me.
By Mel on October 2nd, 2008 at 10:02 amI’ve known 1% who don’t ride 1/4 the miles I do in a year. Yeah, their bikes look nice sitting in front of the bar but they live to be feared not ride. I know of several like me who will never be restrained by a mc or want to be associated with the lifestyle. I ride my dyna everywhere and average 8k a year in Nebraska. I am a true biker I ride rain or shine and yes I do have a windshield, you go 700+ miles a day without one and tell me you don’t want/need one. Most mc members I’ve met hardly leave town on theirs, thay are just a-hole wanna be’s wrapped in colors. $20,000 and 3 patches do not a biker make!
By Rob on October 2nd, 2008 at 10:18 amHelmets? 1%s wear helmets? This a BS show, and I’m pretty sure “Fat Bob” doesn’t exist, is a made up BS biker.
By MF on October 2nd, 2008 at 10:57 amThe P.M kills me PM’s don’t know if their coming or going half the time. And half Sack should have been beggin to run the torch all the PMs I ever knew we had’em half crazy, more than a boot on paris island
By ratzo on October 2nd, 2008 at 12:17 pmI love your response Fat Bob. To the yahoos who posted @%#$ about the farings used on the show. It’s a west coast thing. Been going on in the Bay area for years. If your out west and see RED & WHITE there prob a good chance of seeing that.
By Bloodhound on October 2nd, 2008 at 2:44 pmOther than that I love the show for its entertainment value!
BH
FatBob?
By os on October 2nd, 2008 at 4:15 pmHave been watching SOA. Don’t know if you, Fat Bob, are a full patch or somebody made up by these producers. But, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. As I have been watching the shows from day one, you know if you are a patch, as I am, that 90% of this is unbelievable. The patches these guys wear on their cuts, I have never seen in my life, or any Mc wear. Jax running around with Nikes and wearing hip hop pants is totally unbelievable. He looks like a wannabee who hangs around an Mc. He is not believable as a VP. The portrayal of the CH is fantasy. The female playing the Pres’ wife would never know and be involved as much as she is. There aint no queen of any club! The prospect is unbelievable–who is his daddy? I could go on and on, but I want to jump to last night’s show. I built a ‘47 Knucklehead from a basketcase. I rode it stock for awhile, suicide shift and everything, and then chopped it. If you are who you say you are, you would never have let the comment go by, “Let’s go look at the ‘48 Knucklehead.” ‘48 was the first year for Pans. The more I watch the show, the more unrealistic it becomes. Last night with the dude playing with himself, never would have happened. He would have gotten a whooping and no pervert is going to buy a patch, especially one like that. You make us all look like a bunch of knuckleheads who are bought. Also, the comment by Rob, I guess anyone can post on here. Either he is a Leo or a keyboard commando. But what he is talking about 1%ers and Mcs, he is way off base. Of course, I guess the site is open to Leos and anyone who can type a word. To sum it up, the show is getting to be a lot of lala. Need to clean it up or when it’s all said and done FX will be left holding the bag. And please, don’t show the interviews anymore with the producer wearing the sunglasses and wearing rings on every finger. The more we see it, the more it smells, and tastes like Hollywood lala. Bro, something needs to happen.
i have to say yes it is a tv show and cut and edit it is only an hour. but with in reason i have to say this is the first ever that does not have a Hollywood sugar coat.. i love it. i grew up in this life and love everything about it.. i walked away for a couple years and have returned right before the show aired. from the begining and with every episode it remindeds me of why i went back. it’s an itch you can’t scratch and if you deny that it will eat you alive and you will never be happy.. reminds you of what this life is supose to be about the old school ways..
By sin on October 2nd, 2008 at 4:50 pmI agree with os, what was the point of masturbater-what a load of **** that was, someone would have slapped him with hammer first time, I have watched all episodes and been entertained but last night just made me mad-writers running out of good material already???? That sucks.
By jj on October 2nd, 2008 at 7:31 pmI just wanted to say i love the show best thing on tv in a long time.I started riding two years ago at the age of 20 on a sportster 883 and recently saved up money and bought a softail custom. I love the feeling of being free! i think of the idea of joining a mc but also realize the brotherhood of it and family of friends. I love it
By JAY on October 2nd, 2008 at 8:18 pmI’m going to have to agree with OS…truth be told, its getting to be TOO MUCH Hollywood in the story line. The VP of the club is un-believable and most of us wouldn’t be caught dead wearing that s#$!. 1%er’s won’t give up too much information about their clubs but I can tell you that having lots a friends and family in one of the “big 4″, we pretty much get the idea of what they’re about and what line to walk when around them…this “Fat-Bob” character seems a little off base much like the characters. This is great TV for the novice biker but I’m sure there will be a few “wannabees” out there that will take this to heart. The mystique remains but the message sent on this show is not realistic.
By Bear - Centauros MC on October 3rd, 2008 at 8:28 am1 %ers do wear helmets often, especially in states that require helmet laws, so not sure what some people are seeing out there….my take on the 48 knuck…..maybe it was put in on purpose….to see if people who know what they are talking about caught it? maybe its funny that the dude fell for it, and that’s why it was done? just a thought….
By Jersey on October 3rd, 2008 at 10:05 amCouple of things: Give the writers some credit - the whole “48 Knuck” thing was written in there on purpose - i.e. if the guy knew anything and was not there just to BS his way back in (or there as an informant…) he would have said “48 Knuck?? WTF?” and bailed when he could instead of walking back like a dumbass and getting flamed. Totally agree on Jax clothing - even if they are trying to dispell the stereotypes and introduce some “youth” into the show, no proper MC would allow a member wearing a cut - much less a VP - to be seen looking like that and besides it’s not safe - those pretty white Nike’s won’t do much for his ankles and toes if he tucks the front end. Lastly, the cowboy shoot-em-ups are a little unrealistic. Most MC enforcement or retaliation is done more surgically and intelligently without drawing attention to the club. MCs everywhere are still reeling from the stupidity that took place in Laughlin with this kind of cowboy crap. All-in-all though it’s a lot better than I expected and beats the hell out of 99% of the crap on TV - guess that mathmatically makes it a “1%” show
Sonny
By Sonny on October 3rd, 2008 at 10:39 amgood show. some of these guys are taking this too serious. it’s Hollywood. there is a lot of flash to keep people intrested. if they were factual, people would get bored with the show. if your going anywhere long distance, the newwer bikes are the way to go. don’t get me wrong, i have two great scoots. a 55 fl pan on a rigid frame, and a 04 springer. if i have to get somewhere fast, i take the springer. i have had 15 harleys since i got out of high school. i do my 0wn wrenching, but do you want to ride, or wrench to ride.i ride my pan a few times a week, and love her with all my heart. but there are times when she just wants to be a tempermental bitch, and i push her back in the garage and tell her fine, i’ll ride your sister today.this show is great entertainment, if you dont like the hollywood flash, then try to find a show that doesn’t have it. good luck finding anything that doesnt have a little bit exagerated plot to keep people interested. keep up the good work.
By Marley on October 3rd, 2008 at 1:02 pmSons is entertaining but protrays 1% club as organised crime for fcuk sake? its like Angels of Death or something, there are great story lines without the gun running crap, we don’t need this? 1% clubs are motorcycle club not gangsters I think it helps police get funding for they overtime payments and gang units to hassle bikers who just want to be left the fcuk alone!
By Tig on October 3rd, 2008 at 1:08 pmI have and do hangaround a 1%er club it is one of the big four. I have worn a patch before. I can tell you you are right about one thing they do ride several miles. That is why the Dynas with little fairings would not be used…. baggers! Stripped down like a street glide. I was glad to see Bobby ride one in an episode. I enjoy the show I also think that the started with a basic idea that can grow if they are willing to listen. I am glad they have you Fat Bob to keep them from getting too Hollywood. Of course there are things like the baggy pants tennis shoes and such but that can be fixed. If you ever need any help with the cheeseburgers let me know.
By scarylarySYLO on October 3rd, 2008 at 4:53 pmOne thing I’ve noticed in my travels is that there are definately regional differences. Being in a club in Texas is drastically different from being in one in California.
It’s also important to note that the “dominant” in each territory determines the rules. The thing that “Patch Over” was trying to explain, but did a poor job, is there are several levels in the MC world.
DUB > RUB> Riding Club> mom & pop MC > Traditional MC > Support Club> Dominant (often called 1%er’s)
The Pres of the dominant, actually rules the support clubs too. There may be several support clubs that are actually “farm clubs” for the dominant.
Often the pres of the support club is “placed” by pres of the dominant. Most of the Traditional MC’s are self run, but have jobs within the MC world and must exhibit a certain amount of respect for the dominant.
The term 1%er comes from years ago when the president of the AMA said that 99% of Motorcyclest are law abiding citizens. The 1%ers say they are the other 1%.
As a sign of disrespect for the AMA, a lot of clubs wear the AMA patch upside down on their cut.
The upside down patch also has come to mean, “just passing through” in a lot of territories. It’s meant to provide safe passage through another clubs territory. It is supposed to say that “I’m not here to get your territory.”
just a little info for the civillians out there.
By Poker on October 3rd, 2008 at 5:43 pmSome great replies, one of my bros told me” its TV” I said you are right, but what they portray make people think that what we are. Also it fuels the the pigs to go after us. Well ride safe, and LONG!!
By os on October 3rd, 2008 at 6:34 pmFatbob can really appreciate input. I love the show B.S. and all. Never been a biker but have been riding 35 years.Hate to ride in packs , best left alone. Keep up the good work and look forward to each episode!
By Jonmako on October 3rd, 2008 at 7:08 pmI am addicted to this show and went and bought Iron Horse to read the interviews….love “Jax”!!!
By Jessica on October 4th, 2008 at 8:47 amI think it’s a breath of fresh air, even though some might not agree because of the language and content but if you can’t handle it…..turn the channel. It’s REAL, RAW, and UNCENSORED, just what I love. This show is a break from the norm, unlike this stupid ass reality crap that plays on every freakin channel. I applaud everyone involved in making this, please continue to make this the best series I’ve ever seen and I hope it NEVER goes away!!!! Great job, you guys f-n ROCK!
A lot of good comments, and I agree with most; great show, ,lots of excitement, but, I also agree that we need some realism. I have been riding over 50 years, have been a patch holder back in the 60’s before the “Wild Angel” movie (which I own and watch periodically for a laugh). Most of the 1%ers I know, and I know a few, still wrench and build their own scoots, they may own a TC88 or even a 96, but there is no feel like the feel of a pan or shovel iron mount for getting back to what a “Old School 1%er” like myself needs occassionally. I helped my son build up an 85 sporty iron head for his first Harley and even tho it kills me to ride it very far, (too many times with the rubber in the wrong direction), I love to jump on it, break the rearend out on a dirt road and feel the front raise in the air as the rear wheel is ripping off rubber and causing major air pollution. My family keeps telling me that I am over 60, not 16, but like my handle says, once a 1%er, you are a 1%er forever! BTW we need to remember what a 1%er is, it is the 1% of motorcycle riders who are not the mainstream AMA p***ys who ride in tennis shoes, shorts and flip flops. Back in the early 60’s I learned that 1% was a badge of honour, identifying you with a need to be free, to ride hard and long and not be held down by “Civilian” rules, it was about partying after you got to a safe place, and partying for days, it was about brotherhood above everything and it was about image. One of the greatest thrills I can remember was when my club rode with a large number of other non 81s to the opening night of the Wild Angels, when Blue rode out onto the freeway and Blue’s theme started playing it pulled your spirit out from deep in your soul. After the movie ended, the sound of dozens of bikes kickin alive and blasting the night made your pulse race. My younger brother died last year, I put his ashes in the saddle bags of my 2007 streetglide, (yea geezer glide) and 1000 miles and 16 hours later we had his ceremony with Blue’s ride and song in the backgound as the Patriot Guard riders stood in honor. Now that is how a true “Biker” lives and dies!
By 1pct4ever on October 4th, 2008 at 3:08 pmBoy where do i start….as an X-Angel i can tell you the west coast clubs have members that wear baggy pants and White tennis shoes……PERIOD
By Lil Joes leather on October 4th, 2008 at 4:45 pmTo the guys that want to argue about the way these guys dress this is a west coast Club inspired show…so calm down dress the way you want lifes to short to worry about such ****. Its a west coast club dressing the way west coast clubs dress and riding the style of Bike the Bay Area clubs ride……………..MIKE
Fx: Why did you put SOA members in a cage with their colors on?? Never happens… its disrespectful to the club. If anything, you should have had them wearing them inside out.
By Drifter on October 4th, 2008 at 5:40 pmhey the lowslung baggies with white sneaks works well for the young ones. no fat dudes allowed. if you got old hags and fat chicks, maybe you should check yourself!
By size5inflorida on October 6th, 2008 at 7:15 amMike, good word! Have been all over I guess I never seen biker dressed like that, even out there?? each to whatever. The vests are outstanding!! Do you ship to the midwest? tried your web-site could not get your links to work, only vest hope you see post like to get one of them vests!!RIDE LONG AND DON’T LOOK BACK!
By os on October 6th, 2008 at 10:43 amOS
1pct4ever! Good word patch! Sorry to hear about your brother. Lost mine about a year ago now. What you said really sums up our lifestyle. I’m not riding at the moment due to major neck and back issues, but the days of me riding the hardtail are long gone. I’m in the same ballpark with you; I’m 53. There’s nothing like listening to all the brothers rolling together. As for SOA, not all real, but gotta have some drama otherwise who would want to watch? Keep on riding and living the life.
OS76
By os on October 6th, 2008 at 10:52 amI have a screenwriting degree AND I’m in a M.C.
There are just a couple of things that just don’t sit right with me… (Don’t pick on me too much.)
Why don’t they have any other patches on their vests? Or pins? I would at least think that they would have a R.I.P. patch for Jax’s Dad!
How is it that their WHITE patches STAY WHITE?! Is there no road dirt in CA? Not one patch looks worn out. If they were 1%er’s, they would be a little more rugged looking and their vests would be more worn from riding and the patches (especially in the front) would NOT be white!!! Sorry, it’s just my pet peeve.
They are all just too pretty looking. They need to make them a little bit more rugged. Their hair doesn’t even get messed up in the wind!
As far as helmets go, I believe CA DOES have a helmet law. We don’t have one here in MN! I get Harley Hair!!!
In my club, you can’t get a tattoo with the colors until you’ve been in the club for a MINIMUM of 15 years. That scene with the tattoo really turned my stomach. I wonder how soon they put their tats on their back, I’m thinking it’s not no 15 years.
I DO enjoy watching it though. I just have this horrible habit of analyzing everything because of my degree. It drives my sister nuts. She’s always saying, “Can’t you just sit back and enjoy a movie?” and I’ll say, “How do you do that?” That’s our running joke. It drives her nuts when I analyze movies!!! LOL
See you on the road… Harleys forever…

OK, I have read enough. I am in an M/C and have been for many years. I appreciate this show, its entertaining TV. At least someone had the balls to put on a series about Clubs. Ok so its not all exactly like real M/C’s but its close. Hell if we had the opinion of every club out there the show would never be aired. As for the 15 years to get a club colors tat, each club varies with its bylaws. Ours for instance is 5 years, some may be one some may be 15. As for the rags being not dirtied enough..well, maybe they don’t ride in the rain or something..who the hell knows or cares. I for one am glad the show is on and I enjoy it. I’m just really surprised that it has aired as long as it has and some self rightious group has demanded it be taken off the air. I hope that never happens. The only thing I see wrong is the lady has to much say so in the program and I know by now someone would have told her to STFU…just as most females are told in the M/C world…sorry if I offended any ladies out there..but it is what it is in that sort of world. At home is one thing, in the club is another. So lets just be glad that its still on the air and we have some decent entertainment to watch.
By RPM on October 7th, 2008 at 11:23 amWhen I first heard about the show I was convinced that it was going to be a bogus P.O.S. I watched a couple of episodes and I think I like it.
A few things are still pretty unbelievable but I guess they will fix them. For example, you don’t kill somebody every week and get away with it. You don’t get into gun fights in broad daylight without the cops showing up. A club where everybody rides Dynas? I don’t think so. Riding without shades or goggles doesn’t work with those small fairings. Some of this is minor stuff but it shows that somebody doesn’t know much about the real world.
Ozark
By Ozark on October 7th, 2008 at 2:29 pmRPM… well stated. Boys and girls…IT’S TV!!!!
By Luke on October 7th, 2008 at 6:00 pmWatch it relax and enjoy.
Was talking today with some of my bros, and we said same thing to each other. We have something to watch it won’t be perfect but so what. I don’t think it will be can because of some A….B’S
By os on October 7th, 2008 at 7:26 pmAs ol’ladies of REAL club men, a lot of this show is BS! Come on, if some chic hung out at the C.H. and had sex with all the club brothers she wouldn’t be gettin’ respect, she would be sold. No way would any brother from that club or any one within miles would have her around. I have spent many days n nights in the C.H. and never seen 1 baseball bat except on family day. No chic knows much of anything about club business, Bosses wife or not. And if one of our kids was in the hospital we would all be ther around the clock, thats what FAMILY is all about. And NO
By Lavern-n-Shirley on October 7th, 2008 at 9:45 pmprobie would sit in on anything, meeting, beating, or anything. He is too busy picking up trash and watchin the bikes. This show is really good but could be a lot better if it had some more realistic situations in it. But gotta love the jack-off guy, cuz he actually made it without getting his ass whipped right off, get real.
But can’t go wrong with Jax, hes hot but would not be VP just cuz his step dad is Boss.
i like the idea of a sporty for the broke brothers. i ride 1 and have been across country on it twice sturgis 06 and 08. no windscreen hardbags or radio just knees in the breeze. maybe put the probby on the 1200.
By ken hancock on October 7th, 2008 at 11:55 pmRPM—As a patch holder and riding for 43 years, I agree with your take on the show. Let’s all enjoy the fact that it’s about (somewhat) bikers and I for one am glad that they at least attempt to get it right. The old lady needs to be silenced though. Maybe she just needs to be sent on more beer runs.
By 97fxdwg on October 8th, 2008 at 12:28 pmHow is it that SOA where in nevada if the Billboard was from the Antelope Valley California, coulfd you please explain.. thankx
By JIM on October 8th, 2008 at 8:08 pmI’m just a hang around AOA Supporter but…the bikes are NOT like any I’ve ever seen at any clubhouse, rally, swap meet, etc. No club or even a HOG group has 100% matching bikes, let alone the whole chapter, it just isn’t the “way” of any 1% MC or any group of bikers for that metter! Where are the Ultras, the Glides, the “Rat” bikes and all the older models that make up the clubs character from their bike perspectives. Where’s the paint jobs, the radical pipes, etc? Fun show to watch but…they do not blow up or shoot someone or even fight for that matter on a continuous basis.
By Robert on October 8th, 2008 at 8:19 pmI been watch the show from the beginning. Its real close to reality. But small things piss me off. Like Jax wearing and riding with brand new white sneakers. Come on man what are you thinking. Small details like this make the show hokey.
Been riding for 37 years never with shorts, sneekers, or sandles. Let watch the details.

By scrapper on October 9th, 2008 at 5:26 amOh Yeah,
Well Here We Go I Would like to thank all the people on the comment board for giveing there 2 cents worth but i am a bit concerned about the complaining of realizi9m and how people dont like what jax wears first on this subject i would like to say is to each there own,Times are changeing myself i would rather wear pants that hang off my ass rather than tight pants that cut off the blood flow to my massave balls as for the bright white shoes i have a pair and they have steel toe so its not as unsafe as most would think its more a comfort thing
much respect to the old timmers
and thank you for you’re shareing in culture and freedom of the open road
Brother To Brother Forever
By SacredThunder on October 9th, 2008 at 2:32 pmI’ve survived and I’ve earned everything and every scar I’ve got. My long distance ride is an ‘01 Gilroy Chief having started on a ‘48 Chief. My back up is an ‘06 Triumph for fast and 3 midsixties BSA’s (all restored stock) for nostalgia. Great show and I’m o.k. with Jax white tennis shoes because things do change, just not my choice.
By Turtle on October 9th, 2008 at 2:33 pmYou guys sound like special olympics when you argue on the internet about what a biker is and what a biker isnt. You might win the arguement, but your still a retard! This blog is about the damn show, not your homemade lunch bag hardtail. Moving on…
I like the show, but something about it makes it feel fake. I dont think its a big thing, but maybe some small things like the guy who said it looks cheesy for Jax to wear white shoes all the time. I have to agree with him, I think he looks like Kid Rock on a scooter rather than a VP of an OMG.
That and wearing their vest EVERYWHERE!!! Even when they are working in the garage. I can see some T-shirts or something, but come on man, I know you dont see any 1%er letting their guys do that.
By Gremlin on October 9th, 2008 at 3:00 pmFirst of all. I didnt really watch alot of shows on the tube. SOA has grabbed me by the balls. The show is really kickass and i have enjoyed every episode so far. I belong to a mom and pop riding club. We get together all the time for rides and tribute runs. Anyway, keep the show rocking. Ride like they are out to get you. Ride hard and stay safe.
By big mike on October 9th, 2008 at 5:53 pmI wonder how long it will be before the H/A’s flip the f**k out about the california rocker? Did the producers of this show get permission? Maybee it dont matter. As far as the Whole shootem up thing… Not that far fetched! And Bike clubs still have people that just hang around the clubhouse all damm day. No Real Job! Still gettin high! There still drug dealing, stollen bikes, guns sold, etc. And yes the girls get around in the club, usaly hang arounds. There like doorknobs….Everyone has had there turn. This show does need some more hags thow. LOL I do agree that some clubs are more with the times.. I mean look at all the web sites for clubs.. And well done sites too. Not half a**ed. But the old ways still exist. My mother And My aunt was property to a club that I grew up around. Hell…. My aunt still has property of Gramps tattooed on her a**. LOL. Anyway, I like the show. It could use some changes. Like get some different bikes that the veiwers can enjoy. Maybee even show more of the bikes. Less Baggy pants! OH YEA… The tattoos on thes guys.. Maybe ad some full sleeves. One here and one there? Looks Corny. Maybee incorparate a tattoo shop in the clubhouse. We had one. Thanks for the new show. I hope it lasts for a while. RIP Mason Dixon Van & M/C Baltimore. I will always remember!
By Dumbtrucker on October 10th, 2008 at 6:03 amAlthough I don’t like the look of Jax wearing the baggies and the white sneaks, I know a couple of old timers in their 60’s who wear sneakers. Both of them bitch about their “gouty” feet. And who put that squirrly looking clown up for membership? He looks like the last kid picked for a baseball game.
By Deacon on October 10th, 2008 at 8:23 amOK, so what’s with the prospect? This guy questions everything and generally talks to much. The club visits a friendly clubhouse but he doesn’t pull any guard duty? he is inside with some chick? whatever, and only one prospect? This is supposed to be the Mother Chapter of a bigger club but they only have 1 prospect?
By P-DOG on October 10th, 2008 at 10:08 amWhat’s with the women running their mouths all the time? Never mind the bikes and clothes issues everyone seems to be focused on (which look about right to me) why don’t these people act like a club?
I thought that some club guys were advising this show, it ain’t giving away the farm to get it right.
I love all of yall’s comments. My mom and dad rode for 30+ years (not m/c) and it added more life to them than 3 rowdy kids could. Hated to see them sell their ride when dad’s ticker went bad. All in all I learned to respect all bikers because in my dad’s house that was what you did I don’t know much about the M/C lifestyle as parents were into a little local club with mostly tour bikes, but dad had a construction company that employed bikers . only and I can’t tell you how many “uncles” I have that are in M/C’s but I know this…this show does not tell it all. Mom was a nurse and she patched her share of uncles. When we kids asked why uncle scrumpy came over bleeding we were told that it was just a dream and to shut up!!! But, anyway like I said it’s just a show and I really don’t think that anyone watching would think that this is what the life is really about. I am with all of you, JAX is in many of my fantasies but he still needs to get rid of the white shoes! Those kill my wet dreams rather quickly!!! I think that the most important thing about SOA is that it shows brotherhood is #1 nothing else comes first. Brotherhood, family and honor are as important as the ride! Be safe bikers my heart is with you!!!
By boo on October 10th, 2008 at 10:55 amI am a member of a “1%er Outlaw Motorcycle Club”, and have been for most of my adult life. After reading these entries for weeks, I can’t help but interject MY thoughts.
Although the show could use a bit of sprucing up in the believability department, I personally like it and watch it every week. It kinda takes me back to the good ole days. So I’m not gonna waste our time by nit-picking at the job the producers are doing…..nor do I desire to be a consultant for them.
As I read these entries it’s quite clear who does and doesn’t know what “my world” is all about. “Pops” and “1pct4ever” (to name a couple) are 2 brothers that I feel know what’s up. To you I say, Save your breath. Anyone who needs to know about our lifestyle, both past and present’ already knows.
To most others….(about 99% of ‘em) It seems to me that not more than a decade and a half ago, most of you were looking down your nose at us like we were a bunch of “grease-ball dirt-bags”. And now that being a biker is cool…your spending thousands of dollars each year just so you could be like us.(on the weekends) I guess I should be flattered. The fact remains that it was us who stuck with Harley Davidson and played a big part in keeping them in existance.
A couple of years ago I stumbled upon this web site.
http://home.earthlink.net/~rcvsmc-edu/index.html
It might answer every question you have about 1%ers and OMCs but are afraid to ask. Enjoy!
And finally…To the folks at FX….Keep up the good work! Your obviously onto something here.
By 1%er4life on October 10th, 2008 at 11:23 amYour details are excellent. The old shcool bikers do not know about the dress of the Red and White
in Northern Ca. They have been wearing Van tennis Shoes for about 5 to 7 years. Even some of the really old members wear them. Jax’s jeans are not ganster. That is what everybody wears here,Bay Area, including the Red and White. Ganster are way baggier than that.A Lot of Leather is out too. Chaps are joke.Girls don’t even wear them any more.
I have been in the biker world for 20 years and old school bikers never change anything. The men wear semi tight jeans with the tee shirt tucked in and a belt to show off their fat gut.Shirts need to be worn out.
Jax is thw best thing on TV. I would watch the show just to see him, but the show is excellent.
By Jacquie on October 10th, 2008 at 12:24 pmThey’re not all Dynas. I saw some Softails in the parking lot when they were being jacked up by the Feds.
Ditto on the Katey Sagal and Ally Walker love. And ditto on being annoyed seeing Jax in sneakers and baggy pants.
Even with all the little inaccurate details it’s still my favorite show since the Sopranos.

What a load of crap.
By SomeRider on October 11th, 2008 at 7:50 amSomething i think the producers and writers need to understand this is not the shield slow down abit and delve into the subjects a little longer.you could of had the feds bust last at least another episode or two. The fed episode was fairly accurate but slow on down and let us enjoy and understand the good times and the bad times a little bit more.

By jackylred on October 11th, 2008 at 10:23 amI think the baggies and keds thing is a bit overdone, though when the mongols were on a recruiting binge they brought in a lot of gang talent off the street (some didnt even ride) anbd that may be where they are getting the idea from. Matching bikes is a joke, never seen it with ANY MC hell even the shriners scoots are a little different. But as a show, Im still gonna watch it if for no other reason than to laugh at a few things and enjoy a SHOW.
By Hollywood on October 11th, 2008 at 2:05 pmThe comment about wrenching your own scoot is spot on, if you cant fix it, dont ride it. Ive been riding 30 years now and I still dont throw a leg over something I cant work on.
It would behoove people to read through the comments before posting on a particular subject. Fatboy first noted the faux paux about the 48 Knucklehead (yes, I caught when watching the episode too), and about half a dozen other people felt the need to say the same thing. And MF was really off base on the years, as someone noted the Knuckle was made from 1936 to 1947 (not 46), the Panhead from 1948 to 1965 (not 64) and the Shovelhead from 1966 to 1984.
I don’t get to see the episodes until 8 days after they air, since I took the advice of those stickers and killed my television. I watch them online. Noticed the wearing of colors in cars and vans and on criminal activities (and when supposedly keeping low profile on the Nevada run). This would not be done in reality, true. But folks, this is a TV show and the people watching it are not up on patch holder etiquette, the producers need to keep the audience informed of who is who, what they are doing and why they are doing it. People who watch the show for the first time are not going to know that. The Mayans would not have been wearing their colors when burning down the warehouse in the pilot episode, the audience needed to know these guys were, that there were rivals clubs. It’s the same with Clay wearing his colors at the job, or having the club name and logo all over the shop outside, this would not be attracting the straight laced clientele normally. Repeating all those gripes makes the comments section the Department of Redundancy Department.
I think it’s interesting that these guys are into something as different as gun running as opposed to drugs, prostitution, etc that you always see outlaw clubs in the movies doing. In fact, they’re protecting the town from drugs, which the “white supremecists” in the show are involved in (what a role change for Mitch Pileggi!). I also feel that Katy Sagal’s role in the show is a nod toward some, well, “political correctness” in the show to keep some of the loud mouthed feminists from whining about “the way women are protrayed”, which seems to be their stock-in-trade. She is in a unique position though, the wife of the founder (the Original 9) and now wife of the current prez, and mother of the vice prez. I can’t figure out the Irish guy being part of the club. A foreigner? The violence and shootouts and beatings so often are, yes, not too realistic, but the show needs certain entertainment value for the masses; like cop shows that have a guy back on the street the day after he fires his gun. In reality they’re on a desk job for two weeks while some lame “review board” rubber stamps their use of deadly force as “justified” no matter what the circumstances. I have no problem with Jax’s pants but yeah, the white “tennis” shoes bug me. The only guys I see wearing them on bikes are the morons who ride the so-called “sport bikes” that are popping wheelies on the freeway and riding down the white line between cars. The more of them that get waxed the better, the herd needs to be culled every so often.
I share the dismay about the bikes though, I mean come on, “cafe racer” fairings on stock bikes, which are all the same color? I don’t know, someone said Bay are clubs have those, but it’s a sign of decay to me. Although, I saw a Gypsy Joker riding a Buell a few years ago, so maybe the end really is near. This talk of outlaw bikers riding Geezer Glides and baggers makes me ill. Those are RUB mobiles (I have to admit I haven’t heard the term “DUB” before, is that Dumb Urban Biker?). At first I thought the all black theme had to do with that anarchist part of their club name, but anarchist colors are black and red, there’s no red on the bikes. The only guy on the show with an original looking bike is Mark Boone Jr’s character (Bobby?), he rides a chopper with a sprung seat and a springer front end. Where’s the choppers, bobbers, rat bikes (as Robert mentioned), Sportsters? There’s a beautiful EL model in the clubhouse or whatever that dormitory place is, but there’s nary a flathead in sight. These guys biks look the RUB’s that go plunk down 17 grand and a dealership that’s part motorcycle image sale, part clothes boutique (all made in China or some other foreign country) and part coffee shop/deli. It wasn’t the RUB’s who kept Harley-Davidson afloat when the wolf as at the door in the AMF days, it was the guys like Mark Boone Jr’s character with his chopper and the people posting here about wrenching on their own bikes. Harley’s today are like that guy’s VTX, you need an engineering and computer science degree to work on them. And that “American Legend” stuff? For decades on end Harley’s front ends have been made in Japan by a company called Showa and now their electronics are made in Mexico. I had an 89 FXR that I had to sell 4 years ago (two divorces and a kid in college will do that) and buying parts or upgrades came in packages stamped Made In Mexico right under the bar and sheild. Oh, and about the helmets, there is a helmet law in California folks, in fact on the whole west coast, Washington and Oregon too. I live in Washington state, and when I rode my FXR to Sturgis in 2003, I took mine off when I stopped for gas in Couer D’Alene and didn’t have to put it back on until just before I crossed the state line into Washington again. We can thank the ripoff insurance companies for that one.
Oh, and one more thing, about the guy with the, uh, nervous habit, new disease CMD. This guy wasn’t trying to “buy a patch” as one commentator put it above, he was a guy in prison that club found useful to protect because they were going to get 100,000 dollars from him for it. Turned out it was counterfeit, and the club did indeed get fed up with his “nervous habit”. I sometimes wonder if people here pay attention to the show as much as they say they do.
I like the show immensely, there were two other motorcycle shows I can remember on TV (outside of lame CHIPS which was really just another half-assed cop show); Then Came Bronson in 1970 and another show in the 70’s or 80’s about a guy and his son travelling on an Electra Glide, can’t remember the name of it.
By LoneBikeroftheApocalypse on October 12th, 2008 at 2:30 amGrowing up in a small community that for a long time was home to an MC I learned a few valuable lessons that have become a part of my everyday life. First, mind your own business. Second, ask no questions. Finally, people are people. I went to school and was close friends with some of the kids of the MC. I always respected the MC and admired the family dinamic. My family is not MC but we have always had one belief in commomn. Family first, last and always. Its great to see a show that has the family at the center. Keep it up!

I think I might be one of these ‘outsiders’ or ‘youngins’ everyone seems to be referring to that doesn’t know any better, and will take this show too seriously. I just bought my first harley back in may when I got back from overseas, though I was riding for a few years before. I got an ‘06 883c, and don’t really know **** about harley history. I do know that I’ve put on 4,000 miles since, doubling what was on the odometer when I bought at two years old. Does that make me ‘hardcore’?
Up until this summer, I didn’t know anything about the mc world aside from there is a dominant one here and to stay out of their way. My level of knowledge hasn’t changed much aside from learning a bit about the ‘patch etiquette.’ The show’s great. It’s fake, just like everything else on tv, including the news. What I do like most about the show is this nice long little commentary from all you folks out there, giving some true insite to the mc world. Though I doubt I’ll ever be in a position to get into it myself, it’s good to know where people come from and why they do what they do.
FTW. Just ride.
By Jollyroger on October 13th, 2008 at 11:45 pmLoneBikeroftheApocalypse - Welcome to the 21st century. MC’s do ride baggers and “geezer glides.” Are you saying you want to go cross country on a bobber or a rat bike? Maybe you’re the DUB or is it DAB?
By DynoDave on October 14th, 2008 at 7:41 amI like SOA I know its not reality if it was wed either be bored to tears or offended by how women are treated/ LOL but it is entertaining and something to watch
By jackylred on October 14th, 2008 at 2:15 pmCome on guys its television lighten up
Do people really believe NIP/tuck isnt mostly bs to entertain ? or the shield Law and order etc.
Im just glad I have something entertaining and exciting to watch on tv. I cant stand all the reality tv show crap and soap operas and all this bs quit nit picking and remeber its tv enjoy the fun and outlandish actions or you can constantly watch the History channel and stuff for documentaries I like these channels for my facts and all but also like drama or you can go watch all the soap opera and reality tv shows be glad we have some edgy darkly humourous tv I for one like fxs line up up their edgy dramas
I love the show but have only seen the episodes on FX online. It does, on many levels remind of days gone by. At the same time, I have critiqued the show on authenticity. I’d say, for the most part, there are many obvious realistic situations especially when it comes to the sense of family and brotherhood. That is and was the most important thing. While I realize that these episodes are for entertainment value, I don’t think there’s as much action, i.e. constant gun deals going down and so on. You can bet your butt, a lot goes down, been there, done that.
I’d been a part of MC life since the early 70’s, was riding at 14 and married two, one the Sgt. at Arms, one a NY Chapter Pres so I was and am privy to more than most. Yea, us chicks are not usually included in club business but there’s always pillow talk.
I’ll look forward to seeing how the show unfolds…
By Babz on October 15th, 2008 at 6:21 amto Brother Mark (9-30-08). I am also a VTX’er and love it. Would love to buy AMerican, but can’t afford it now. got 40k on mine in 3 years and only changed oil and tires. I’m a lone female rider and low-maint. & dependablility were crucial.
By Shady on October 15th, 2008 at 8:16 amSOA–freakin’ love the show! I don’t give a damn about the technicalities and small bs (shoes, pants)…just keep entertaining me! yeah, sure Jax is hot, but Clay is hotter. Then again, so is any biker that loves dogs and kids.
It dosent matter what your colors are what you look like what you ride build it yourself buy it off the floor its all about that we keep the older riders dream. JUST RIDE if you look at every MC there is a group of guys looking for a reason to leave the house and ride. i would ride a moeped if thats all i had. so stick it up your a** for the guys who say b uild it your self, even though i did.
By Josh on October 15th, 2008 at 4:15 pmhey “knucleheads” who are so stuck on the literal because you have knowledge of something! 48 knucklehead was a code, yeah it doesn’t exist. First thing I said, it doesn’t exist they will either cut or burn off his patch - guess I was right. There are lots of codes idiots. And for the skeptics of Bob, if you know anything of mc you would know that the black and white would not be worn without some kind of concession. The show is great and it is so much more that the ride but it seems too many here cannot see through the smoke, hear past the pipes to take in the scenery.
By harleywoman on October 15th, 2008 at 5:47 pmreading these responses is interesting and sickening. so many dumbasses want to think they know whats really going on in the MC world, and they aint got a clue. SOA is entertainment, some of it hits real close to home, the rest is hollywood. for you stupids who say 1%ers don’t ride dynas with the sissy fairings, go to the hells angels or bandidos websites and look at all the pix of dynas with those sissy little fairings. dynas and fxr’s are the best chassis harley ever made in a lotta guys opinions. i cant believe i’m wasting my time on this, but go to the websites of real clubs if you wanta see how it really looks.

By RIK on October 16th, 2008 at 2:47 amalso, I would like to see more of the newly patched over club. They do the whole patchover party, shoot out,etc and then you never hear about them again.
btw-they sure had those bottom rockers made uo fast. I would love to find an embroidery shop that has one day turnaround.
A;so-I think making half-sack ride a moped is degrading to the club more than to the prospect. I don’t think any club-especially in a small town, would intentially make themselves a laughing stock.
and as far as some of the comments go, here’s my two cents:
1-many patch holders keep immaculate colors. The tales of initiations with buckets of oil, piss, etc dumped on your head are ancient and are now pretty much Hollywood. Members take alot of pride in their colors.
2-many MCs require their members to have newer, well maintained bikes.Leave the hardtails for barhopping.
When I say newer, I mean evo;s and up. I knew a prospect who was told to sell his shovelhead, or buy a newer second bike, as his bike would not handle the long, hard riding that the club required, and he wouldn’t be able to keep up with the pack. Who wants to worry about their members breaking down on the side of the road, when you’re on a run?
3-yeah, lose the white sneakers.
Fat Bob I have never heard of Spokes MC? Where are your chapter/chapters at? You can look at our website http://www.9339mc.com. I would like to talk you to you offline I like the show of course its hollywoood and they will make taking the trash out kool and sexy, but I guess thats why they call it hollywood

I have been riding for 26 years.
A lot has changed over time.
I wear Tennis Shoes when I ride for the most part.
I ride with a Club. Been in and out of the club scene since 2002. I never saw any club ride the same basic model of Harley. or with the sport fairing. And No Sportsters???
Some guys are more into FatBoys while others are into Baggers. I ride a 1200 Roadster Model Sportser myself. I like the smaller more nimble frame. IT has a good feel and is top notch in handling.
I do not like windshields period.
I like the wind in my face.
I know when your lingo is fowled up, and when things are not 100% Straight up. To say clubs don’t party anymore, WRONG!
My Club is family.
Family Comes First.
We always look to the future
but never forget the past.
This club has been around for a little over 25 years now.
But All in all…
SOA is a really great show and very entertaining.
I like most of the show. Some Parts are very realistic while other parts are not. You need to show more of the women especially Katey Segal…
She is very Sexy…and needs to be shown off more.
Especially in something skimpy.
And Shady, All Real Men love Dogs & Kids…
Ride Hard, Live Fast, Die Free.

By old geezer on October 16th, 2008 at 6:17 pm“REDWOOD ORIGINAL” patch? If it was addressed in one of the episodes I missed it. Thanks, blogging, thanks to your comments
I’ve been enjoying the show since its inception. I do ride my own bike, and have friends in a few clubs. I think they need to screen their show a bit better though… as Jax was giving Tara a ride in this weeks episode from the hospital and there’s a segment between them leaving the hospital, and arriving at her house (followed by the ATF agent) in which Jax is the only one on the bike… can we say ooops!~!
And to beat a dead horse once more.. the white tennis shoes gotta go… get real!
Another side note.. for people who have been in a club as long as some of these characters.. their colors are way too clean..distressed leather would have worked better.

lighten up and have some fun. Be glad its not another Americas top models Ladies and gents .
I have watched SOA and I thought it was ok, I thought some of it was a bit far fetched, like Clays old lady talks too much, like she is some deciding factor in something? I been around enough to know that aint how it works, unless I haven’t watched enough of her to see Clay just amuse her by letting her talk behind closed doors and then blow her off.. having been the old lady of a member to a well known MC, women knew there place, the old ladies befriended the other “old ladies” but not the hoe’s or patch chasers all though we weren’t threatened as we knew what they were for, the out of town members or just play toys. overall though I think its a pretty good show, and kind of gives you an idea of the lifestyle.
Thanks

By ratzo on October 21st, 2008 at 4:48 amThe show is basically interesting, however I would like to see more riding and having fun on the runs and parties. There is too little of that in the show. Members like to ride as much as possible and bylaws insist on it. It’s an MC. To concentrate so heavily on the gangsterism of SOA belies the reason for being. Yeah, I know the Mongols got hit hard by the Feds recently but that serves them right for affiliating street gang members. The shows writers seem Hell-bent on portraying “the life” as a never ending assault on human dignity. Jackson appears to be channeling his dad’s spirit and the writer’s are probably setting up the split with Clay that appears inevitable. Just looking for more balance. The end of tonight’s episode was some creepy writer’s idea of a bad dream.
By Highball on October 22nd, 2008 at 11:23 pmThe show is GREAT! It’s a fictional series based on a very real lifestyle. And reading these comments was almost as amusing as watching the show.
Blah blah blah… ‘48 knuck, mouthy ol’ lady, matching rides, prospect knows too much. Whatever… it is what it is. Fiction.
My little girl knew a knuck from a pan and what years they were made when she was 8. And she wouldn’t make a fuss about baggy jeans and sneakers. And not because she’s seen guys wearing clam diggers (short pants) and sandals with their “cut” at bike week (she was little and asked why they were wearing “girls’ pants”… I explained that the Canadians are crazy enough to be able to wear whatever they want without comment from anyone SMART.) She doesn’t have to be a *real biker* or even an *adult* to understand that the proverbial 400 pound gorilla wears whatever it wants. But the reason she wouldn’t make a fuss is because she knows that it’s a TV SHOW, dammit!
Anyway…
Keep the excellent ENTERTAINMENT coming. A show like this, about an important part of American culture, has been a long time coming.
And I’ll definately be back to read more comments, too. Keep those coming, as well… if you’re not too busy blogging about how “John Gotti would never have *insert inane plot detail here* like Tony Soprano did.”
ps unlike lots of you other posters, I’m not “real-er” than anyone. In fact, I’ve never even SEEN a motorcycle up close… well, maybe a Vespa >;O

Well, finally some decent looking bikes on the show!! All ridden by the Mayans!!
All in all, it’s still a good show!!
By Bogan on October 23rd, 2008 at 12:41 pmI love this show - I am in Arizona and Sonny Barger is of course a legend here as all over. I have read his books and then this show came on and wow - its really interesting to see it all, especially in person. I ride (50 year old female) and only started this summer - not ready for riding with the big dogs yet but damn sure too young to be sitting on the front porch watching it all pass me by
And I do agree with Michele’s assessment on Clays wife - I dont see women being that mouthy, but he does treat her like most MCs do treat their ladies such as sleeping with that young gal - which BTW I LOVED the skateboard upside the head lol. I do think though that since it we her late husband that was the former president that she gets a little more respect then any other women would. I never caught what happened to her first husband. I need to watch the reruns more closely when this first run ends and see if they ever mention it even. I recently read in Sonny s book that the club came first, then the dog then below that the women - I don’t buy that if someone is a true old lady and not just a hang around but I was surprised to see how much crap Sonnys second wife put up with and stayed with him as long as she did.
By Sue on October 23rd, 2008 at 2:29 pmWhen the Heavens Devils “merged” with the Outlaws it was a memorable time for all, affecting the entire biker community in some way some happy some sad. When did the term “patch over” come in to use ? Remember when you tore down your bike every winter ’cause you could’nt ride it very safely anyway, you laced your own wheels, raked and molded your frame, 21″ with a spool hub, extended springer, no front fender, 16 x4 was as big as ya got in the back with a sissy bar solo seat and ‘P’ Pad, rear drum might stop ya at the light and the leg cramps at night made ya swear to one day install an electric start? Hey Fat Bob. I am 38 been riding since I was 17{behind friends}Mingled with some Outlaws, who are big in Chicago. Everyone would tell me beware of these guys. Never did meet a woman Outlaw. Suppose you have to be a guy. Do wives get a patch? My question is I have been riding my own for about 9 years, sport 1200. I am fairly small so as I would love a bigger bike mine fits me perfect and I have customized it all so it is truley mine.I now live in N. Carolina married a guy who rides and loves the ride , would NEVER trailer. I love that. He has some friends that ride but Im not to into these guys? although I am a girly girl compaired to many biker chics, I do love the lifestyle. my little boy also is crazy for bikes My husband not yuppie, his freinds to yuppie for me. But it is hard, believe it or not to find REAL bikers to ride with. Any suggestions. I had more fun riding with a gang. Love S.O.A. Jax… Yummy

By Tony "No Pockets" on October 25th, 2008 at 8:09 amHey Fat Bob…when this show came on all I could think of was “dip****ty.” I have a hard time with the lead biker dude and his white socks and some of the antics of his bride. I mean, that’s Peg right? Anyway, she’s a little too obvious sometimes.
But I am hanging in there. There is some serious over dramatizing going on, and I am hoping these actors start maturing soon.
By InsaneJane on October 25th, 2008 at 8:47 pmI said “dip$hitty” for crying out loud on being censered here…egad folks.
By InsaneJane on October 25th, 2008 at 8:55 pmOK I am going to keep this short … ok the white tinnis shoes were an affront to my 13 yr olds strong sense of biker values …so I guess not all the young ones would agree its the trend…lmao But honestly I was too busy looking and waitin to look at the characters nice chest to notice.Yum and all that room for new art since the 30 yr old VP doesnt have much…. grin
Point is its a show… have fun. Who on earth really wants the general public to know all the ins and outs of MC life. The Ol’ Ladies that really ride know when to shut thier mouths …. and when not to ask questions …they also know it is as much for thier own protection as thier loved ones ….let the general population keep most of the fantasy … and Yeah By The way …HAMC is one of the big 4 for a reason …never heard it was because they were posers before. It’s the little things that Brothers all over the planet watching have got to be noticing. For Example….The pictures of Members on the wall is unrealistic and never have I ever seen it done in ANY clubhouse I have been in. Anonymity would never allow members so easily identified. You do realize that the clubhouse does have visitors, right? Most have a wall of members Patch names and a year of retirement or RIP. usually listed in order of Past Prez but without mention of current standing and position.
By Krazede on October 27th, 2008 at 3:59 amOne other lil thing is the door. Most Clubhouse’s have but one door and EVERYONE knows once inside you never touch the door if you are not a member. They let you in and out and many have a sign that rads “DON”T TOUCH THE ****IN DOOR” a member will let you out. See, this way no visitor can let someone in. As I stated it’s the lil things that patch holders have to be noticing. I would love to help with this and OH, loose those fukin white sneakers, they just don’t belong. Ever hear the phase”Put the boots to him”? I laugh as I pretend to hear Jaxs say “I put the sneakers to him”.

Hi Fatbob,
I wrote some stuff that I want to send to Kurt Sutter? Can you help me get it to him? Do I send it to fxnetworks and just hope it finds it way or can you share a better address?
Thanks, Lil’Bro
By Barb on October 27th, 2008 at 11:42 amJax needs to lose the white tennis shoes and get some better looking eye protection. Riding a bike while smoking a cigarette creates that hanging piece of paper that never comes off except to burn you on the face. His cigarettes never have that??
I find the show “entertaining” and understand the writers and the producers can’t show everything. Having said that, I find SOA as close as Hollywood can get.
As for the not getting loaded comments, I agree. Those days are done. Too many sitting in boxes and cages as a result.
Love the blog. Some of the comments make me laugh. I find them entertaining as well.
By AKA - Cujo on October 28th, 2008 at 5:05 pmThe only thing I could improve on the last episode was to have them doing the big nasty while ATF dude was still alive clutching his gut then shoot him.
Yes, one sick Bit$h so what.
By InsaneJane on October 29th, 2008 at 8:12 pmHey, I think the shows a grin!
By Backwards Bob on October 29th, 2008 at 8:18 pmSome posters need to lighten up a bit! This is only a TV show played by actors playing roles. These guys hand over their “colors” to the wardrobe guy when the days shooting is done, have their bikes pushed into a warehouse and drive their Hybrid home to Beverly Hills. It’s a fun show to watch, I groan when it’s stupid and cheer when it’s cool, but it’s all FAKE! It’s a biker soap opera, so sit back and enjoy it for what it is while it lasts!
By Backwards Bob TFFT on October 30th, 2008 at 8:45 amok So the showe 29 Oct was good alot of good points there. One dont ask how many more punches you got left? Second no matter a bullet hole or sex act man touching another mans ass in any way is gay. It is to just what percentage(thank Ron White) The jail house talk total crap but well played out I thought. YES those talks can and do happen not as quick as they did or where it took place but you gotta agree they do happen and deals like those are struck. By the way I gotta agree with insane jane about screwing while ATF is dieing call preverted I dont care I like an audience LOL anyway see you all next week.
By BAM BAM on October 30th, 2008 at 2:18 pmHey saw the show last night..WAY TO go D.L. now that is a real member..looking good…
By HARLEYGIRL81 on October 30th, 2008 at 7:33 pmI heard about SOA than caught my first episode on the Oct. 29th, I had to get online and watch the others I missed. It’s a great “fantasy biker show”. And c’mon…Peggy Bundy is legit. Fat Bob, stay up brother look’n forward to hearin more from you. Oh yea, cheeseburgers will give you a heart attack, cash pay’s the bills. There’s no reason these cheap holloywood producers should cut you out for you “professional insight.”
By Ernie-E on October 31st, 2008 at 3:38 amHey Fat Bob,
By InnocentWoman on October 31st, 2008 at 1:55 pmMy Old Man and I are dedicated SOA watchers. It brings back alot of memories. We I don’t ride with the club any more ( I use to with my ex) due to being disabled, but I still stay intouch with my brothers and sisters. I miss the life especially when I’m watchin SOA. The Old man keeps sayin he will be surprised if it doesnt win any awrds. I have a funny feelin about Clays SAA. Whadaya think.
Well, keep the shinny side up. Take care
Innocent woman (LANH)
so i got a couple of questions for those of you who really are part of a MC . so they may sound stupid but i’m not out to act like i know sh*t i don’t:
1. is it possible for a woman to be an actual MC member, without being anyone’s old lady? probably not, but i thought i’d ask.
how does one approach a MC if they are interested in becoming a prospect?
for those that provide serious answers, thanks.
By stoneschick on November 1st, 2008 at 8:44 pmAwesome Show!
By Bad Andy on November 1st, 2008 at 8:56 pmSure there are a lot of obvious details that anyone that rides knows is B.S…. But hey it’s TV. It’s entertaining and it keeps us coming back for more. If it was realistic it would be a documentary. I ride hard and I ride because I enjoy it. Sure the MC life looks cool but again it’s TV. I’m not in an MC, I know people who ran with members of the 81 back in the 70s and 80s. But I’m into riding and hanging out with my friends. The show is awesome and yes some of the details should have been checked before putting them on the air, but then again it isn’t real. Keep it going, it’s the best thing on TV. Ride safe everyone.
I gotta have the acoustic version of “Fortunate Son” played at the end of episode at end of October. Who performed it and where can I get it?
By Michael Connor on November 2nd, 2008 at 7:22 amHay Fatbob, Some people think your real some dont who cares. I started riding on the back of my aunts sportster in 1970 when i was 3. then when my parrents split up i lived with a great foster home that hung with a club in MASS. cant rember the club but def not one of the big 4. that club took stiches out of my head when i was 5 years old in there club house.it was great. thay gave me a hammer pen becous i did not cry. I got my first ironhead for $800 when i was 20 road that scoot for 10 years every were. today i have a small collection of bikes 7 to be exact ( who cares) mostley shovel heads i love them all but like you said on long halls comfort is wear its at mostley i ride my 03 ultra classic like to STURGIS 08 pulling my trailer behind it with all my gear. that was a solo ride best trip ever boston to sturgis. i respict the club thing go to partys with a club in NH. great groop. personaly i cant be told what to do so i won’t join. but let me tell you what thay party like muther f#@$ers young and old alike! oh ya the show. mabe its me but how old is Jax he looks to young to be V.P. thanks for your time. RIDE HARD RIDE FREE.
By shovelhead on November 3rd, 2008 at 11:11 amHey Stonechick. They do have female MC’s try one see if its the right fit . Good luck
By ratzo on November 4th, 2008 at 9:18 amGet Real Woman…MC also stands for Men’s Club…
There are no women allowed to be members in a Real M.C.
Even as “Property of”…You are not a member.
Men are in charge of all Club Property including
“Property of” Patches.
Get Over It.
By Hammer on November 4th, 2008 at 4:03 pmEnough with the footwear thing. Some of my friends aren’t opposed to wearing flipflops to ride around town. Things vary state to state. We ride with sneakers sometimes - big deal.
Bikes: every type of HD imaginable. Some clubs like them pimped out - some ride mostly Dynas with very little chrome or bolt-ons.
The show is okay for the most part. I don’t like them making 1%rs look the way they do all the time. A guy can’t hold a job down and be a 1%r - that’s BS.
By outlawnavajo13 on November 4th, 2008 at 9:51 pmFatbob, It’s nice having you give your unbiased opnion of the show, I haven’t missed an episode, I live in the state of the milwaukee iron. Maybe the producers will see fit to give you a brief cameo….. or would that be out of the question for you? Also which one of these is more authentic? the SOA or Beyond the Law-with Charlie Sheen? keep up the good work. Ride Free
By Metaldogg on November 5th, 2008 at 11:15 amoutlawnavajo13….who’s says a 1% can’t hold down a job? I know lawyers, doctors, firemen, mechanics and ****loads more of us working fools who are patched,,,,,,,,
By FreewheelinFrank on November 5th, 2008 at 7:11 pmI have heard that there is a MC in Indianapolis named or titled, not sure of the right term to use, “Sons of Silence,” is that true and if so, does the show have any semblance the this MC?
By Karry Jo on November 5th, 2008 at 9:24 pmVery Very Excellent Show …………..Keep It Up
By Ms.Kerry on November 5th, 2008 at 11:30 pmI agree with outlawnavajo 13. I know some pretty fine men that have awesome jobs and they are the 1% type if you must use this. They portray the old man old lady thing a bit odd. Personal problems never are allowed with club business. That can make or brake a Club. The old ladys are either tight or out of sight. There is no in between. What goes on at the clubhouse or on the road is not even mentioned let alone brought on as a suggestion on a TV show. House mouses and or mommas are just that. Clean cook and run erronds and etc. Loyal to a fault or not even there. I have seen no mention to the fact that the ATF has then under surveillance in such a small town and no one knows about it? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By Alaska Babe on November 6th, 2008 at 3:27 amI have shown my boobs to more feds than to men, just by simply looking above or around or to repetative movement. Just a hint to the show if anyone is interested. I will be back for more just to see if you keep on your toes FatBob. You are my kinda guy! Also I have never seen a club member wear a cut in a vehicle. They may carry them but not wear them in a car.Just my opinion from a long ago awesome history.
Why says bikers aren’t smart? The ATF woman’s acting is so bad, that I wish prison biker dude got a few more head smashes on the steel table. I hope next week we will see her missing a few teeth which should prove promising to the cop she’s ‘doing’
By InsaneJane on November 6th, 2008 at 7:05 amHey Jane I like your style!
By Backwards Bob TFFT on November 6th, 2008 at 9:08 amHay Insane Jane that was the best part of last nights show. smash smash smash.

so cool best reality show yet some dont know this is how it is and yet its all around some dont know it best show in years keep it up great cast ,this is how we ride and live and die
By Wolverine on November 6th, 2008 at 12:28 pmwolverine
Great show, I am a little disappointed in the rides though, I thought I would see a few more oldiea and baggers.I loved it when the chic cop got her face smashed too! Also great when Jax shot the ATF dude. Great show, cant wait till next week. This reminds me of the good days when I was wearing the patch. I really miss the club thing however I had to relocate for my job and getting to old to prospect, I support our local 81.I would love to be apart but just cant see it right now.
By vtxkid on November 6th, 2008 at 2:02 pmKarryJo - are you for real? Honey if you really don’t know, we’re not going to tell you. It’s not something you even ask about.
By Biker chic on November 7th, 2008 at 2:24 pmId like to know what Jax s is rideing. I know its a Superglide but does anyone know what year it is and whats been done to it? The type of fairing what front end work etc? I like the way the handle bars are. You have full control he sits high in it and the higher the better for throwing your weight around when you need and seeing whats a head sitting down low isnt a good idea for me anyway . Ape hangers and choppers are great to look at just not for me you get caught up in some street car tracks or have to stop fast in the rain you will pay the price for rideing one one those. I know what I am talking about haveing all most ript of my left leg of trying to fit in betten a bus and a car in the middel of a small hidden hill. I can see why the cast members ride those bikes they have more of a chance going home with your legs and arms still attach. I am going to build one and have it painted the same and also getten same ****en white sneakers lol. Love the show it isnt perfect but who cares its great!
By 1%RJ on November 7th, 2008 at 4:39 pmRJ that “Jax” bike is a 100th anniversery edition i believe came out in 2k3.I’m actualy superglide shopping for longer hauls now while prices are dropping and its first alterations will be any forward controls will be removed for standard controls mounted under me and drag bars similar to what is seen in the show because its simply much better control .From what i can tell i cant see any major mods other than the generic looking flyscreen and the drag bars on what looks too be approx 10″ made on risers.I’ve got a very similar set on my daily rider from Santee with 6″ made on risers and love the things.
As for a lot of the other posts every club differs including the 1% and the big 4 guys in general as well as each individual chapter of those clubs the style of dress and the bikes themselves differ from reigon to reigon and also the age of the rider For me i have a couple pairs of riding boots and a couple pairs of Vans as well and i use either or depending on several things 1 distance of ride and what ill be riding in and 2 what im going to be doing at the end of the ride.I noticed a post above about the local dominant club prez running the support clubs.i cant speak for where you are but I know here thats not the case and we have a dominant big 4 club here and their extent of involvement with their support clubs is asking em to come to a clubhouse party or to go on a club sponsord ride and nothing more. They do not have any involvement in the day to day runnings of the support clubs and are not privy to the internal business of the support clubs period nor is the support club prez selected by them but voted on by the members of the support club itself. As for all the nit-picking its pointless with all the variations from club to club chapter to chapter and for those bashing “Fat Bob” about “Spokes” I’d say hes pretty damn smart. You see RICO is a very real law and too this point has been used to convict a hell of a lot more totaly innocent people than it has guilty. I love the show for what it is along with its imperfections. We watch tv to be entertained and this show definatly does that.If you are looking for a histoy lesson a great way to learn is hit your local bike shop (I’m not talking about a damn rub boutique either)pick yourself up a basket case or close and take it home and start wrenching.By the time you get it like you want it you will have a multilayerd education in the people the lifestyle and the machines that helped start it all
By kdrummer01 on November 7th, 2008 at 9:54 pmhi there, fatbob, fatdavy from belfast northern ireland here.
we r just coming to the end of season 1 of soa, it finishes 2night actually, and i must admit 2 finding it an absolutely fantastic piece of television. this is especially so because the mainstream of programmes made on this side of the pond are of the ‘reality’ based tv which is piss poor in my view. therefore, i cannot praise this refreshing tv prog enough!!!!
anyhow, i was wondering if u could answer a query that i have. could u tell me what style/name of the sunglasses that jax wears in the show. the old rebel in me wants a pair for my upcoming birthday!
any help with this would make an old fat lad very happy!
heres hoping,

Agreed on the hard tails and of course on SOA, but as a west coast old school scooter tramp woman I must respectfully request that you quit capitalizing the “O” when you say “outlaw” - I’m sure you can figure that one out! Very glad to see that Ireland is getting the show - my old man is from Ireland and now a fine Harley riding hunk of a California biker - since I gave him his own Harley for a wedding present! Can’t wait for the show to start up again - brings back old memories and gets me dreamin’ about the old days! Rubber side down - Ride Hard - Live Free! Miss Krista
By Miss Krista on August 14th, 2009 at 6:28 pmI cut my “biker teeth” with a 1% Club as a 20 year old nursing student 1975. Bought a 63 Pan for $1200 in 1982…first bike and she’s what I learned to ride on. IMHO I think you guys are doing a pretty good job of portraying club life. I was actually surprised…expected the show to be cheesy. Rock on and Ride Free!!

Can someone please tell me where I can find the windscreen that “Jax” has on his Superglide? Don’t tell me the Harley accessory catalog. I’ve already checked those out. Love the show! Ride hard or stay home.

This is comin from a true female biker/Hell’s Angel…You have to understand from my point of view.
If you love the man, you have to love the Club/Lifestyle. “We are a family”…and Blood is thicker than water.

This was a dream of mine long ago so people could see and better understand the truth about bikers.Good and bad.Keep up the good work. Cant wait to see next episode
Dr.Puck on Nov.5
By The Doc on October 5th, 2009 at 8:20 pmMan I think your pretty much spot on about what a real club is and what some perceive it to be. The old days are long gone and thankfully I’ve survived them. We used to gauge how good the Laconia run was every year by the number of people who got killed. No **** some times there would be as many as 6 or 7 some do to just plain stupidity, some from crashing their bike and some form lets just call it over zealous interaction between organizations. Now a days we go up there and we’re the quite ones, all mellowed out just enjoying each other company and enjoying be able to ride one more day. It seems to be the Jap bike crowd has something to prove acting just plain stupid bothering the citizens needlessly. Trying to relive the Wild one with Marlon Brando.
You know the drill.
I’m with ya on the bikes they ride too. For us the ride of choice is either the FXR or a Dyna Got one of each out in the shop. Of course I still have my old flat side dresser, and my Pan/Shovel rigid with a Denver’s Choppers springer up front with a 22″ front wheel laced to a no brake hub that take three lanes to make a U turn but they’ll put that sucker and the dresser int he hole with me when they bury my sorry ass.
The show is all and all pretty good except some times there is just too much drama, like the rift between Clay & Jax you yourself know that kinda **** would have been settled right quick with either one or both going for an ambulance ride and or getting kicked out of the club. Most of the time bad **** was settled by our club prez. and it was over and done with and forgotten about or else.
By Bear on November 29th, 2009 at 2:34 pmThe think about the big throw down between the Ariana’s and Sam Crow your ten best against my ten best come on man give me a break there either would have been lead flying or guys swinging ballpein hammers
or kickstand. I guess Hollywood has to get their hands in there some times so they can keep it on TV. All and all I think they nailed the cast down pretty good too. The club characters are all believable and fill the roles well.
All in all it’s a pretty good show I just hope they keep it real and don’t get too stupid with the story line like a lot of shows on TV that started out good and got stupid real fast.
